Does Hatton's performance v Mayweather start to look better as time goes on?

disagree.think hatton caused mayweather lots more problems then roberto did and at least roughed him up and i thoughedged a couple of earlier rounds if i remember correctly.

That said mayweather completely destroyed ricky and he was never the same fighetr after the beating he took.So while he may have in my opinion done better than roberto it certainly was not to his benefit.

 

Hatton's quick feet gave Mayweather problems, he also smothered Mayweather punches inside before Mayweather started to find his target.

 

Hatton won one round, the 5th, and arguably the 1st because Mayweather was particularly passive for the first two minutes and didn't adapt to Hatton's footspeed as well as he might have been expected to do.

But.... it wasn't a particularly close fight. I don't think Hatton was getting to him at any stage really, Floyd was drawing him on because it was an easier fight on the inside for him than the outside, where Hatton's feet were causing him some difficulty.

Floyd pulled him in and then pushed his **** in on the inside, taking advantage of Ricky's poor defence up close, his wild lunges and inability to stop smothering his work.

He just thought Floyd was a Jessie who didn't like it up him, to his cost of course.

 

Would the fight have been any different if Hatton had a jab?? A lack of jab for me cost him.

 

I've always though that Hatton did actually quite decent in this fight, and was closer on the scorecards then some people suspect. Nevertheless he showed he was a clear class below Mayweather's. Also unsure whether it gets better with time as Mayweather isn't knocking people out that much these days.

I wouldn't read too much into that, Hatton would rather leave the ring in a box than lose on points, he went 100% for a lucky KO, even when the game was completely up for him in the 10th.

Gotta agree with that mindset too. Don't see the point in settling for going the distance, I'd rather get knocked out trying than settling for defeat.

Probably because most of them were either no good in the first place or completely shot already.

 

Marquez has done alright since Floyd schooled him.

 

Hatton caused him more issues. Probably the only difference between the two that resulted in this was Hatton was a more natural come forward fighter, that had quick feet and knew how to cut the ring off. That was his game. Whereas RG was forced, just plodding forward, he's more of a boxer than a fighter.

End of the day though Hatton got smashed regardless of what people say, he wasn't close to being in the fight.

 

lol @ the 10-8 first round. Hatton hit Mayweather's shoulder and he was a little off balance.
I gave Hatton one round, haven't watched it for a while so I can't remember which but it was only because Mayweather took the round off.
Mayweather beat the **** out of Hatton, he gave him a lesson in inside fighting and showed up a dirty fighter who couldn't take a dose of his own medicine.

Hatton won a couple of rounds i.e. 1st & 5th.

If Cortez had have let Ricky fight his fight, it would have been more interesting but Mayweather still a class above.

I think the fight would have been best had they met @ 140 in early 2006. I still think Mayweather would have won, but it would have been a lot better fight than the one they had.

All in all though, Hatton gave a much more credible fight than than virtually all of the guys since Mayweather has fought since.

And I don't care what anyone says, the Pacquiao that beat Hatton was juiced up.
