Does having big calves give you more punching power?

Iv noticed fighters with thicker forearms seem to have more pop, leaner forearms more speed.

Use good old sledgehammer tire training to build up those forearms.

That could just as easily be bone density. A very strong, fit, small framed man can hit hard enough to break his own wrist at will. A frail-framed boxer adapts his normal punch to avoid injuring his wrists.

When I was behind in amateur comp, I knew a hail mary type shot would hurt my opponent badly, but it would also damage, sprain, or break my wrist. You can't hit with full force all the time if your bones are weak and then your hand is useless for the rest of the match. Thus guys who are strong in the clench but don't hit that hard - it isn't because they are weak.

Calves can help with explosive movement forward, and I feel Pac actually uses them to generate a stable base from weird angles (thus how he generates force in midmotion instead of having to plant his feet like a Tito Trinidad, who used good technique and powerful thighs to generate force), but they won't help traditional punching power with standard technique too much.

To your point, the legs carry a lot of growth hormones as well.. hence why people who have a strong squat are generally very strong all over. So it may be possible there is some correlation between the size of a persons calves (or leg muscles in general) to punching power as there may be a lot of strength behind the punch.

You don't big legs to punch hard. You need strong legs. Tommy Hearns, Carlos Monzon and Julian Jackson are walking on sticks. I bet you they're legs were strong as hell though.

I never said they were the same size. The fact that they have the same calve size shows that Mayweather is bigger. His calves look proportioned on him while they look oversized on Pac. Get ready to have your world destroyed on May 2. lol If it wasn't for trolls like you, I wouldn't care who won.

I'm nothing like boxing_master. You on the other hand seem to have a lot in common with him.
