Does having IBF/WBO/WBA make you undisputed Champ?

Well its not really is it. Thats a good way to finding out who the undisputed champ is but its not cut and dry, not in a modern boxing climate, where boxers are stripped every 10 minutes.

The traditional criteria no longer apply, at least not if you're interested in applying the term "undisputed" to the guy who clearly rules the division.

If Fighter A defeats Fighter B for a belt and then gets stripped or decides not to pay the sanctioning fee, who cares? He's proved that he could beat that organization's "champion," and thus no one can claim that belt without going through him, as long as he's active.

This is why Abraham is a paper champ, and Pavlik is almost universally considered undisputed at MW. When he rematches Taylor, that's how he'll be announced, and deservedly so.

Look, any whiney boxing fan can make up his own rules anytime he wants. That's why there is hardly any consensus in this sport. Everyone likes to ***** and moan, and pull new rules out of their asses in order to support their own biased agenda.

    Lampley, you're point is VALID.

Yet? If we suddenly had a Boxing commissioner and he said the BA,BC, BF, BO are no longer valid? He'd replace them with U, X, Y, Z:good Or be smart too. Then you could have a system that allows for guys to be come champs and hold belts which creates the box-off at the top for THE UNDISPUTED CHAMP.

Unless boxing suddenly gets itself together? The orgs will be there.
You cant get a little bit pregnant:nono Yet you need to have and understand a workable and enforcable system.

No? Didn't he announce Taylor as undisputed in the last fight?

I'm not sure I gather your point. If a boxing commissioner decided there could be only one champ, that definitely would be a good thing.

I'll have to check. Maybe he said "universally recognized," but in my mind that's the same thing.

Well, I assumed that you knew that the IBO wasn't worth ****, and was trying to be smart. Perhaps I was wrong, maybe you place a high value on the IBO belt.

I'm saying that while an each org/division U,X, Y, and Z would have a Champ? The 'Commissioner" could then indicate a Championship or "Undisputed" Tournament. Its just like divisons and conferences in other sports.

Perhaps the newly "Undisputed" Champion retains only that title and forfeits the structure belt back into to the TOURNAMENT.

Work with me here:think :think We are speaking a lott of if's, but's, and DREAMS. But that sounds as ludricous to me as saying the orgs dont matter, aribitrary dismissal DOESNT EITHER.
