I know its going to be tough since Haye really isnt that big and against the the 250 pound super heavys he is at a disadvantage add to that the chin questions, but I think it is something interesting to follow in the heavyweight division which really has become dull. It creates excitement and I look foward to Haye at heavy for as long as it lasts.
Wlad was 238 in his last fight, wasn't he? Haye will be 220 - 230, so it's not that bad. And the likes of Peter aren't really 250lbs super heavys, they're just fat men.
I think Haye will show great speed at 210-215 and has power in the right hand that will carry up to HW. I don't think he can outbox the likes of Klitschko or Slug it out with a guy like Peter, but it'll be interesting to see what he can do against a smaller guy like Povetkin who's not powerful but has a high work rate and doesn't seem to tire.
No matter what though if Haye chooses to vacate his titles at cruiser - he's either in an immediate shot for a title or an eliminator away.
The thing I like about Haye right now, its his mobility which could cause lots of trouble at heavyweight. The thing is....will he keep that mobility and speed when he fights at around 230 like he plans to ? 230 is a big difference with 200..... The power is there, that's great but if he loses his speed advantage, he won't go anywhere in the Heavies !
These discussions about Haye at HW are all over the place, but the bottom line should be this: no one knows how he will fare up there, but it should sure as hell be interesting and fun to find out. So yes, he does create some buzz and excitement-unless of course he gets KTFO in his very first fight against a legit HW contender (whatever that is nowadays).
In a funny way, he could - relative to his opposition - actually be quicker than he is now because he's not boiling himself down. If he walks around at 225 - 230lbs, as long as he prepares well he could actually be sharper.
I didn't think that Haye would be that big (225-230) but if he is then thats better for him, especially for his power and chin. I don't know about his speed - i'm pretty sure he's still faster than 90% of the HW's out there. I wouldn't count on him beat Vitali ... but as far as Peter ... he can definitely win that WBC if Vitali doesn't get it first.
Man it just goes to show how boring its become at heavy, everyone I think is tired of these fat, slow ponderous awkward guys ...we are desperate for anything new and looking for a change.
