I agree about Hatton, he hijacked man city support.

That's pretty much it I think. I've met loads of people who told me they loved Ricky Hatton but couldn't name a single one of his opponents, including Kostya "that Russian bloke he beat" Tszyu. I think the majority of Hatton's fanbase followed him for the same reason they'd follow a bottle of brown sauce.

Loads of people just introduce themselves to you as Ricky Hatton fans and submit to your questioning?

    ;O)

    Bump.

It seems as though Haye has managed to maintain the interest he generated in the Valuev fight. All my mates have been asking me about the fight tommorrow, none of whom follow the sport seriously. If he beats Ruiz in good style I think a fight with either Klitschko would generate as much interest as Mayweather/Hatton.

Probably not, but marketing is trying its hardest.

He definitely has the potential. But I'm not sure if he has enough decent opponents.

    He didn't highjack anything.

He's always been a massive (arf) city fan. When he was a kid City was one of the only things he talked about. Nothing changed when he went pro.

When he was learning, he would have city posters up on his wall, wear the shirt, have the badge on his pillow etc. When he became a pro, he could afford to further his love for the club with him.

Believe me, if he had stayed amateur, he would have had a city badge on his shorts. Nothing at all has changed, except him now being able to afford to flaunt it more.

Some of you are so cynical. You just look under every rock to try and find something you can accuse him of not being legit about, even if that means completely inventing stuff.

The guy is a life long blue. Both his dad and grandad played for them and he could possibly have played for them too, if he wasn't a better boxer.

Even if he never got into boxing and joined the family carpeting business and was half skint every weekend, he would still have his season tickets and be going to home and away matches.

What you see is him. It's all natural. Whether you like it or not.
