I have seen that fight, he did take solid punches. Foreman would not have hit Lewis with those shots. But essentially the fighters you picked as examples of fighters that had good chins were not good. Both Louis and Frazier were down far more times than Lennox. Also Lewis only was taken out with one shot vs Rahman, which was blatenly down to horrific preperation.
Funny thing about that, I heard Manny Stewart say at some award dinner awhile back that he thought Marciano would have KO'ed Lewis, and Tyson? And that he was the most underartted champion ever? Though i don't think he could have beaten Ali.
He beat Hopkins. Who did Monzon, Hagler and Robinson beat at MW that Hopkins would not have beaten. Bar perhaps Hearns.
I think RJJ would have beaten Hearns, but there is along list of people in those records that would have given RJJ problems. (over 15 rds, not 12)
Steward's an odd guy; sometimes he says makes a statement and other times he'll say something completely opposite than what he said before. Never know what to expect with him. The size advantage for Lewis would be too much to overcome for Marciano. Can't see him getting past the jab, especially with his slow footspeed and the fact that his pressuring skills weren't as developed and suited for superheavyweights as Frazier's and Tyson's were.
My point is did he ever have to face the pressure that Hagler, Monzon, SRR, Basilio, Fullmer, Lamotta, or Zale would put on him over 15 rds? He almost always dictated the pace and action of his fights.
Why would it change in the last 3 rounds? Fights change late on because people get tired. Tell me a tangable physical reason why these people would win. Also a few things: Basillio is a WW, Lamotta would get brutally outboxed. Why would the pressure tell. Why wouldnt Roy be able to keep them at range when he is faster of hand and foot and has superior reflex's and was a big puncher at MW, so they could not walk through him.
Williams also has said Tyson hits harder than Klitschko but is not as consistant(Tyson had busted knee) Williams Tyson round 1 & 2 [YT]syQj22ROnwk[/YT]
Danny's exact words were ""Once David has put on the extra weight he will be punching even harder than Wladimir Klitschko. I've sparred with him a million times and I have hardly ever been hit so hard."
If Tyson hit harder than Klitschko, then why did Williams get bounced all over the Place in his fight with Vitali? According to Freddie Roach, Wladimir hits harder than Tyson based on training camps.
