CHEF, between me and you, I gained a great deal of respect for Wlad after he beat Haye. His control of distance is phenomenal. His footwork and timing are supurb.

I know I made threads about him crawling on his hands and knees, but he made me eat crow that day. Haye is a very good fighter, so you didn't see me discrediting Haye on this website. I gave Wlad all the credit he deserved.

Haye probably learned from that experience, and felt he needed to learn how to get more comfortable fighting in the pocket, thus adding another facet to his game.

No, he is fast though, probably the fastest current heavyweight.

100% agree. I think david has also learned that not every shot needs to be a haymaker which keeps him from "opening up" thus easy to hit, counter. Tighter more compact and straighter punches makes Haye DANGEROUS

Haye's faster and more explosive punch for punch, Ali is more fluid and faster in combinations though. Look at those gifs, Haye's arm is coming through much faster than Ali's and they're throwing an identical right hand. I'd love for the old timer hero worship to stop.

Well said I would have to agree with you on that comment. I can't really say much about Hayes hand speed, I haven't seen a bunch of his fights. Back in the day I heard there was a comparison with Ali and sugar Ray Robinson. It was said that their hand speed was pretty close, I never saw the actual study just heard about it. Ali would string some pretty quick Combos together in his prime actually when he was Clay. Hayes throws more loopy punch while most of Ali's were short and tight. Just from what I've seen of Hayes I would say Ali was quicker but I can't say that I seen Hayes put together a combo to really compare.

what round of each fight if I remember right this is Ali later in that fight 7th or 8th round. All the while beating William up but not trying to KO him asking him what my name. William "Your mam named you Clay I'm going to call you Clay". need clips in real time.

That GIF was from the 3rd Round of the Williams bout.

You're confusing Ernie Terrell who was quoted saying "Your mama named you Clay, Imma call you Clay." Ali replied with "What's my name!" in the ring battering him for 15 Rounds.

    Ali is my favorite fighter.

Against Chisora he did fight inside a bit more, that finishing combination by Haye was blistering, so fast and accurate. I think Haye is faster than Ali, so was Tyson.

As far as modern HW go .... I'd say Andy Ruiz Jr > Haye,in terms of hand speed.
Ali was faster also, alot more accurate and was able to keep a good pace, even when
apparently tired he'd still throw sick accurate combinations.
