    Not amongst true fans.

For idiots like Max Kellerman who think that Muhammed Ali lost to Leon Spinx "in his prime," yes it will.

I think Holy insisting on fighting on has already affected his brain, you just have to listen to the man talking to get this feeling.

He should have retired after his losses to Byrd and Ruiz, when it became clear that his time was gonne.

Let me put it a different way. It doesnt tarnish their legacies for their past accomplishments, but do you think a guy like Roy Jones Jr for instance would have been looked at differently had he retired after the Ruiz fight?
Heres another example working the other way, look at how high on a pedestal they put Vitali Klitschko for his loss against Lewis. His next few fights against horrible contenders showed how ordinary he really was, yet so many fans think he would have ruled the division, because he retired at the perfect time.
It doesnt tarnish their accomplishments, but it certainly tarnishes their invincibility factor, and Holyfield certainly had that coming off the second Moorer fight.
Same with Duran getting ***** slapped by Joppy was a joke. His fights with Pazienza were entertaining though.

well duran fought on until the outrageous age of fifty, losing to the likes of pat lawlor, kirkland laing among others.Look how highly duran is placed on atg lists, his legacy clearly was not tarnished in the eyes of most.I believe holyfields legacy will not be tarnished when his career is over and that is the way it should be.
