I'd probably squeeze Frazier in there next to Holmes or Tyson,

I agree with the top 3.

Holy should have 9 losses among these names if you give change his gift draws ( Lewis 1 , Ruiz 1 ) into a loss. Let's move the number back to 8 for those who think he beat Valuev as I do .

If he fought Klitschko that number would go up again to 9. If he fought Ike that number would go up to 10. If you count James Toney, you get the picture...11.

Omitting Lewis and Bowe, the best he fought who bettered Holy, drilling down he was 1-1 vs Moorer and 1-1-1 vs Ruiz. Ruiz won that first fight. change that to 1-2 vs. Ruiz. Yes he beat a post prison Mike Tyson.

Glass City Cobra: He had a great resume. The only problem is he lost a lot of the fights--often struggling with men who he had no business losing to (Ruiz, fat old James Toney, Valuev, etc). Part of it is because he stayed in the game too long and should have retired way sooner, but even before he got old he had a losing record against Bowe (1-2), Lewis (0-1-1), lost to Moore, lost to Byrd, etc. That's 5 losses and 1 draw (the draw being a blatant gift) even if we're being generous and ignoring the fights when he was past his prime. Officially he had double digit losses.

If Godzilla had emerged from the sea and gotten ranked as a heavyweight, Holyfield would have been the first in line to fight him.

If Foreman and Holmes had been younger then it would be yes. At least in quality of comp. Not in his record against.

He might not have won them all but Jimmy Young's resume is up there with the best ever.

How many fights did he lose in his prime? And the first Ruiz fight could have gone either way. No robbery in the Holyfield win. The 3rd Ruiz fight, most observers felt Holyfiel won. The Moorer I fight could have reasonably scored a draw or a close Holyfield win. You just score eveything against Holyfield because you are filled with hatress deep down.

I will readily admit that everybody Louis beat was ranked when he fought them, but I would say a lot of the Burn of the Months club that he fought (all ranked contenders) were lower quality fighters than the the guys Evander fought. Louis still has a great resume: Carnera, Baer, Braddock, Farr, Galento, Conn, and Walcott, and a lot of other decent fighters in support of that. Evander beat way more world champions though, and a lot more top contenders.

Are you talking p4p? Because at HW Holy is nowhere near Ali and Louis. You could argue that his wins over Tyson are better than any two wins of Louis, but in terms of depth Louis drowns him (pun intended).

No, I'm just talking heavyweights. Talking p4p I could come up with lots of guys with resumes equal to or greater than Evander's. But to keep things from getting messy, I'm just talking heavyweight.

That's not true though. Louis rarely fought lesser opponents and unlike Evander, he didn't lose fights in his prime (except Schmeling loss). His competition is as good as Evander's.
Louis beat Schmeling, Carnera, Baer, Sharkey and Walcott. Unless you count belt holders (who were never real champions), this is not true.
Louis faced something like over 30 ranked opponents, I don't believe that Holyfield is even close to that number.

Some of the guys on Holmes and Louis's resumes are not as well known, but they dominated for a longer time and have fewer defeats.

How do you figure Holy has an equal resumé to Ali then?
