For me hopkins won the fight even tought it was very very close, and Calzaghe trew more punches but was less accurate, I want to know if people think Hopkins deserve a rematch

and why do you think Calzaghe is not giving it to him.

No. i presume it would be like the first without the first round knock down. calzaghe won't grant hopkins a rematch as if he does want one last fight he will want it to be one for the fans

No he cheated to get a rest and basically spoilt and was just trying to survive til the final bell.

He just cannot live with calzaghe's workrate at that pace.

It would be even more boring than the first fight.

i'd say yeah....i mean it was a split decision, and he did land the cleaner shots while dropping him in the process but

i dont see how it would go any different the 2nd time around

Cant see it...no interest from JC at all and it'd would have to be a lot of money for him to even consider. He beat him once and then likes to move on to a new opponent. I think JC still wants 1 more retirement/pension money fight and that will be in wales. We'll find out in the new year anyway.

He would be stopped I AM AMAZED how everyone has conveniently forgotten he had a very long breather and believe me without it he was spent.

I really do hope it happens with a better referee anyway Hopkins knows he will lose but obviously it's a big pay day.

and then you same people wonder why everyone says Calzaghe is overrated and has such a weak record, Calzaghe knows if he gets in there again with Hopkins he runs a high risk of loosing.

    .

Hopkins know he will lose ? Are you serious ? What you think is th reason Hopkins is still a top fighter at age 43 ? because he think he can lose at rematch after loosing a very close fight ? So he tought he would loose again JT when he got the rematch ? Did he think he could loose against Pavlik when he accepted a fight that people said would be one sided, Come on... Hopkins has never been beating clearly and can make an arguement for every fight he has lost, If anything Hopkins knows he can win thats the only reason he would ask for the rematch, at 43 you have to choose your fights very carefully, hopkins isin't and keeps proving critics and fans wrong all over again, thats why he is the most respected boxer still active and one of the all time greats.

Yes, Nard deserves a rematch because Hopkins gave Calzaghe a shot at his title, and the result was not conclusive.

He unquestionably deserves a rematch. If you are going to judge this on the only thing that matters - what happens in the ring - then sure. He had a good showing for himself the first time and he just defeated one of the top guys in the sport. What other criteria can you go by that doesn't involve your personal feelings toward him?

Maybe you don't like him, or maybe you don't like the way he fights, but there isn't anyone else that deserves it more than Hopkins except perhaps Dawson.

    hopkins got in calzaghe`s face
    needled him
    got under his skin
treated calzaghe like a piece of **** he stepped on before the fight and after the fight.

they clearly do not like each other .

on top of this the first fight was usa v uk

hopkins also made in black v white.

and still after all this, no americans at all were remotley intrested in the fight as the american paying spectators showed and american tv audience numbers showed.

then the fight itself was a poor spectacle.

and some people want a part 2?

He does deserve a rematch because it was a close fight.
Hopkins won't get a rematch because he made it an ugly and boring fight. Most people won't bother paying to watch that again! (Although I would)
