I've always thought Marquez and Hopkins had excellent footwork on a level that was way above any other active fighters but with Marquez it would sometimes leave him off balance and open to big punches and a result he used to get dropped often (more to do with his positioning then his chin IMO) but Hopkins seems to rarely find himself in those situation even at this age. Thinking about the way he was just casually circling left and right to completly nullify Clouds offense was the sweet science at it's best, even in the Dawson fight his footwork was again excellent despite coming up short and losing the fight.
Rigondeaux has the best footwork in the pro game currently IMO, close to faultless. Hopkins is right up there though
Naw man...haven't you heard. Pacquiao has the best footwork and is the most skilled overall in all of Boxing.
Almost completely took away Clouds right hand with lateral movement and lateral feints. Slowly edge left, see Clouds jab coming, and just as he was about to line up the right hand, Hopkins would take it away by darting right.
I believe Hopkins has quite possibly the best footwork. He is so subtle, wastes no movement, and it sets up all sorts of offensive and defensive movements. And at 48, its even more amazing. He was making Cloud miss bad. Im sure though someone a little more speedy and technically sound would catch Hopkins more frequently, but i also don't doubt that Hopkins would adjust his overall strategy
Yeah last night Cloud was completely nullified. Hopkins rarely let Cloud hit him with hooks and kept circling and evading Cloud's telegraphed punches. Rigo has solid footwork but lets not forget he didn't look so good against the guy he ran from(cant remember his name) and lets see how solid his footwork is against Nonito. Would say Nito has solid footwork its decent but lunges a bit too much. Agreed with Marquez being off balance despite recoving from throwing wide punches very fast. Mayweather, Ward, Hopkins, Wlad, Vitali, etc(sure I'm forgetting a few names) have the most productive footwork in the game.
Arguably the most educated footwork in boxing today. He made cloud look amateurish last night with it.
I think it should be unanimous that X has the best footwork is boxing today, the way he moves in the ring is similar to how old school boxers used to move. Unfortunately we dont see it that often today, but Hopkins has utilized it for much of his career
Old man BHOP can pretty much shut down your whole offensive arsenal. Cloud is a dude that throws ALOT of punches. he had him looking lost in there.
Yes I'm starting to pay attention to how boxers escape the corners and ropes Hopkins makes it look so easy
