So a trained boxer beat a guy that trained in the gym for muscle? Well isn't that a shocker... This proves what exactly?

This is your proof no boxer should train for strength?

As with any sport, strength can be a determining factor.

I don't believe in them. Whilst i do a modified dead lift occasionally if you want to get back injury's dead lift is the best way to do it. Iv seen too many clowns in the gym dead lifting that haven't got the faintest idea what they're doing. 9 times out of 10 they end up snapping all their **** up.

Deadlifts are the best strength exercise known to man! I agree that most people have poor form when they do them, if you do them with good technique they are as safe as anything.
Only way to get a back injury is if you don't keep your ass out and back neutral the whole time.

Whilst i don't disagree with this they're not really for me. Check out Ronnie Coleman who recently spent quite a bit of time in hospital. He had multiple parts of his spine fused which i would imagine is because of all the insane deadlifts he did throughout his career.

Personally, I have seen slight speed increases.

Bench wouldn't help as much as actual strength lifts like squats and deadlifts. Of course being stronger will help in boxing, though.

Squats are also the best ab exercise you can do.
