Agreed. However, performance enhancers are just that. They are not necessarily strength enhancers, but rather, strength, speed, stamina, endurance, etc. enhancers. The same argument was applied to baseball....if steroids make you bigger and stronger, you still have to hit the ball, right? The rebuttal to that was that steroids would also increase bat speed. And when you got a guy like Barry Bonds, who has the skill and focus to be the best naturally, and shoot him up with PEDs, look the hell out.

Still, like you said, boxing is much more mental than most think. What De La Hoya did to Vargas should be a credit to De La Hoya's legacy, rather than an argument for steroids being useless in boxing.

My main point in all of this, is that no matter how relevant steroids are pertaining to boxing, it is not just the outcome of a scoreboard that is at stake, it is the outcome of a guy's face...or brain, or health, that is at stake.

It matters in an individual sense. Any fights he gets caught cheating would be rendered void but it wouldn't discredit his whole career.

For example: Mosley cheated in the oscar rematch but there's no evidence he cheated in any other fights.

 

Difference is if pac gets caught now his whole period since morales 2 till then will be discredited.

 

Let me clear this up for you. Its not that Manny was accused or anything like that. Its the way he and his team acted about the testing that brought on the drama and people actually thinking he is dirty. All the excuses, the agreeing and then backing out and asking for cut offs, walking away from a reasonable cut off is all suspect.

 

Also it does matter bc if Manny beat Floyd and later it was revealed that he was on something then it would be ****ed up but not erased from the record books. Shane Mosley cheated against Oscar and they didn't overturn that loss for Oscar. The reason they didn't is bc Mosley never failed a drug test.

Yes he admitted it and Oscar even went to the Commission but they didn't over turn it. Mosley never failed a drug test though. Its jacked up and if Manny is cheating and admitted it later after he was done with boxing not a damn thing will be done about it.

Yes, there is a such thing as overtraining...


BUT, the thing about these substances is that they allow you to train at a level that would normally be considered overtraining... because one of the major benefits is that they help with muscle recovery.

 

It sucks indeed, officially nothing might change but he would obviously get 0 credit and even be discredited a lot if something like that happens.
Same way mosley gets no credit at all for oscar 2 imo.

The bottom line is if Manny was cheating and knocked out Floyd then its too late. That is why the testing issue is a big deal to me. Win fair and square. I never thought Manny was cheating even though its possible. What made me even think he could be is the way he and his team act when it comes to it.
