does it tug at your heart a little bit when fighters lose?

A whole lot more then a little bit. I always have nothing but respect for anyone that gives his all in the ring and when someone displays courage and will power and doesn't atchive his goal you have to feel for them.

And thats what's so great about boxing because the fighers invest so much more into the sport themselves then anyother athletes, as a fan you are so much more invested in your favourites then in anyother sport.

Man I felt so bad for JT after the first fight with Pavlik. Both were in my top 3 favorites, and it was hard to watch anyway. But in his post fight interview, choked up and saying "I just can't believe I lost" with his voice cracking about killed me.

It tugs my heart when unknown fighters beat the favorite and then get robbed by the judges. Take for example the fight between Kid Diamond and this Huerta kid that was on Versus a few months ago. I had Huerta winning and then the decision came. Oh man, did I feel bad. I felt even worse when Huerta said, "I would have rather lost by knock out then get robbed like I did tonight." That was pretty sad. Or when that little white Russian dude gave Luis Perez a pretty damn good boxing lesson only to be robbed.

I'd love to see that clip of Hearns apologizing. Love the Hitman but I remember him saying on HBO, "Detroit, I shall return."

While it wasn't anything Tyson said, watching a beaten, battered and perhaps even mentally ruined Mike Tyson talk after getting KO'd by Lennox was pretty hard for me.

Also gotta admit seeing Gatti sobbing openly on his stool after being epically overmatched against Floyd was disappointing.

That night made me very sentimental. He is the fighter i looked up to and got me into boxing. He always gave it his all and it just was not enough anymore. I know people say Chavez is the best Mexican boxer ever but i was too young when that was going on and wasnt into boxing yet. To me Morales is the best Mexican fighter because i followed him and he got me into boxing. He fought for us unlike most fighters. His first fight with Pac took everything he had left in him and i have a feeling that 12th round was his last hurra telling us "Look at me fighting this unstoppable force and wont back down for a single ****ing second".

If I was more of an MAB fan than Erik Morales...but when Morales got knocked down against Pac in the third fight and he just looked over at his corner, shook his head sadly and stayed down for the 10 count that it finally hit me. One of the greatest fighters of my time was now admitting defeat and retirement.

It was like a wave of sorrow to know that I wouldn't be able to see Morales fight anymore.

Then he came back a year later and killed all that.

Yea i seriously dont think there will ever be a figher like Morales. Juan Diaz might be like him though. He showed even in defeat that he would not go away even after he was dominated for the most of the last half of his last fight. He admitted he lost and said the warrior in him made him finish the 12 rounds.

"Tug at my heart" is a huge understatement. Boxing isn't like team sports, where your team loses, you're sad, and you get over it. I have so much respect for fighters and get so attached to them that it's hard for me to get over them losing. Just recently, the Marquez brothers. Both at the end of their careers.. they never got the respect they deserved, they trained so damn hard for their fights, and they both lost. I felt extremely sorry for Rafael because during that 12th round he was taking so much punishment without getting stopped.. he wanted to win so badly and he did his best, but he could not give anymore and he lost. But at least he really did lose the fight. The Juan Manuel situation was harder to deal with. Pac got a gift in the first fight IMO and this was the fight of Marquez's life. He put on an amazing performance, especially for his age and he should have gotten the decision, but instead he got screwed over again and because of it a lot of "historians" will underrate him and count the paper loss as an actual loss. Those aren't the best examples of the extreme situations though, like Barrera-Pac I. I hate watching that fight. I also hate watching late Tyson fights like the Lennox one and everything after that. And Hagler-Leonard/Hearns-Leonard.. even though I didn't even know what boxing was back then. I can't imagine being a big Hearns fan during that first Leonard fight. :-(
