Chavez Jr has more power. He can train for speed. Movement he does not have. If Roach can train him properly he is young enough that he can improve to a level to beat Pavlik. If he keeps going he might end up being as good as Martinez when hes 30. There is nothing really wrong with Chavez Jr physically, he just had poor training.

Different fighters are affected differently and then there are different types of losses. Pavlik got schooled by a fighter 17 years older, who looked old in his previous fight. Pavlik believed he would KO Hopkins and had delusions of beating Calzaghe. That kind of reality check is mentally difficult to handle, and while Pavlik has shown a lot of heart and mental focus in his career, I don't know how capable he is to analyze himself honestly. Wlad got beaten badly, knew he needed to change something changed trainers, which was not an easy step becaue he likes Sdunek and improved and his now more confident than ever. Pavlik after Hopkins was in denial, never acknowledged that his lack of skills was the problem, was then beaten by Martinez, whom he would have most likely beaten in his Taylor - version. Rumors about personal problems, alcohol...maybe true, maybe not. His loyalty to Loew tells me that he doesn't see the problems that were visible against Hopkins and Martinez.

Yes if he brings movement and focus with a bit of slickness he can beat Pavlik. Hopkins toke away his confidence and I know it must've sunk really low after his loss to Martinez. I don't think he'll recover but it'll be a good win for him if he does. It'll also be a good win if Chavez Jr wins. I just don't want him facing Bute that's a terrible matchup for Pavlik.

They should demand Pavlik take a breathalyzer before the start of the fight.

If Roach can get JCC Jr. to be more mobile with lateral movements and improve his feet, Jr. has a good chance. Pavlik's mental state is in question, and might be a factor in the fight. I think Kellys eyes will get busted up and start bleeding, really cause him to either dig deep or start freakin' out.

I've been impressed with Jr's chin lately, but admit no one he's faced hits as hard as Kelly does. The Ghost will have to get to Chavez early and start pushing him back to eliminate any chance that Chavez might have in beating him.

I have a feeling Pavlik will try to outbox Jr and win wide on points. He will try new things with CHavez similar to what Donaire did with Marquez. Just a feeling.

Put it this way. If this fight is even competitive Pavlik should hang them up.
