    right...
in years to come calzaghes legacy will be tarished by folks saying 'he fought greats only when they were past it...hopkins and jones'..
but, i would not agree totally that jones would knock him out in his prime...joe has a granite chin...thats not to say that prime jones wouldnt beat him..this fight gives no clue to how he would do against prime roy...
at this stage of a career like calzaghes it will always be about money fights...not fights the fans want...or manditory challengers...its about paydays....
i see joe wanting to go out in front of his own fans...and wheter fans like it or not, hopkins rematch generates most money...

    You think so ?

So it will not be considered like Holmes win over Ali or ODH win over JCC ?

It's jut a big money fight for mine. The fight wont make him climb any higher in the p4p rankings.

Doesn't mean a thing. Jones did a little better than I thought he would but it's still essentially graverobbing

no, after seeing jones from round 3 to 12 all he was doing was surviving from getting koed very similar to what he done against tarver 2,

sorry joe but you need to fight hopkins if not dawson they we can say how great you are

A win is win at the end of the day I thought the fight was close untill the cut I dont know how the first half of the fight was a Joe C shut out.
I dont think the fight will do anything for Joes record with the real students of the game but it dam sure will help his retiremnt fund that much I am sure of.
The one thing that spoil it for me was likes of woodhall ect bias all night.

But all said and done the fight was entertaining enough to watch with the early knock down ect.

Means nothing to me at all quite frankly. The great intangible was if RJJ was what he used to be. He clearly is not. When RJJ was RJJ Calzaghe would have been stopped.

De La Hoya beating Chavez does not belong on that list. All those guys were miles past their best days, whereas I don't think Chavez was shot. He had declined, yes, but was still a top class fighter. Chavez was in a similar position to the one Oscar is currently in.

It should mean next to nothing, but there is a chance Joe will go p4p no1 off the back of it - which asks the question: Why fight a prime elite fighter (and probably lose) when you can later on get credit for mocking a finished shot one, and go P4P no1 off the back of it.
