Does Jean Pascal really stand a chance against Chad Dawson?

No way. Pascal has a ton of heart and will fight the best of the best but he is not a p4p talent and doesn't have the best skillset. Going up against a big, fast, skillful southpaw and coming off a shoulder injury. I don't think he has any kind of shot.

I would love for him to pull off the upset, but its not gonna happen.

 

I am suspicious of Dawson's chin and I can't say I love to watch him box but he's athletically masterful. Pascal may have a chance to get him out of there. But he's sure got a lot to overcome here. Then again, we may be getting an optical illusion. Last time he fought a guy who wasn't around 40-years-old was 2007. Last elite younger man he fought was Adamek, who was reportedly struggling to make weight. And since Adamek went unbeaten as a cruiser and is now campaigning at HW, that doesn't seem far fetched.

 

yea but struggling to make weight isn't much worse than coming off of shoulder surgery to your power hand. And Adamek would've probably beat Pascal's block off no offense to Pascal but Adamek can do everything Froch does even better and then some.

 

I appreciate Pascal's work rate and heart.I will be cheering him on against Dawson.I really believe Jean has a shot to decision him.:good

 

It all depends which Dawson steps into the ring. If we see the one in the 1st Tarver fight, throwing quick and crisp combos all night, then Pascal's in trouble. If Dawson holds back too much then we may have a real fight on our hands.

I see Pascal having trouble coping with a big very talented SOUTHPAW.

 

Pascal is getting underrated.... Its a very dangerous fight for dawson

Dawson has never fought another young fast atheletic champ before.... He fought adamek, but adamek was a slow light heavy

I honestly don't see Pascal having much of a chance in this one as he's working with a lot of disadvantages: he's shorter, he has a short reach, he's not as athletic(in my opinion; not saying he's unathletic), not as skilled, and is coming off shoulder surgery. He's really up against it.

 

Just read Jean Pascal has a 67 inch reach. I hope thats a misprint on boxrec. No wonder he struggled with Froch.

 

Yeah when I looked that up when they were first talking about the fight I was stunned at the reach advantage Dawson has(and what Froch had too).

 

Dawson will have nearly a 10 inch reach advantage, 2 inch height advantage and considering he could easily be fighting at cruiser if he wanted to, a 5-10lb weight advantage.

Yep, dont see how Pascal could win this one. Dawson is a righty who fights southpaw, which means his best punch is his jab, Pascal is going to have to get inside that to even hope of having a chance, because he's not gonna win a boxing match from the outside with that reach.

 

I think he stands a chance. Hi his best approach is to be aggressive, make it a fight. If Pascal tries to box Dawson, he'll lose. Pascal's stock could rise even in defeat though.
