    Good points. Louis fought with light ounce 6-8 ounce gloves, and was often matched vs easy to hit types. His power came from the velocity he generated not the mass behind it, a reason why his power disappeared in the later years. As you said the accuracy and timing were good.

    If Tyson's Foreman, or Shavers had those 1930-1940's gloves....oh my.

    One question I have asked before, and never got a clear answer is this. How much speed does a 6-8 ounce glove add compared to say a 12 ounce glove, and is there a different in stamina 6-8 ounce vs 12 ounce in the later round after showing a lot of punches.

    I suspect the answer is yes the lighter gloves add speed and make it easier on stamina, but it would have to come from a professional fighter or trainer.

    Perhaps he lost some of his punching power??

    I’m thinking speed, accuracy and timing which were the chief components of his punching ability.
