How many of you guys think that Joel Casamayor deserves to be in the Boxing Hall of Fame? Casamayor only real loss was to Juan Manuel Marquez ( was out of his prime years already ), Joel's other loss were very controversial defeats on points against Freitas, Corrales and castillo. He won those bouts in many people's eyes. But Joel defeated Corrales 2 times, Roberto Garcia, Nate Campbell, Michael Katsidis, Daniel Seda, Jon Kwon Baek and David Santos.

Is Casamayor Hall of Fame material ?

    Please vote !!! :good

I think so, but to be fair JMM was also past his prime and going up in weight to fight in Casa. Yes, his fights with Freitas, Corrales, and Castillo were very close, but out of those 3 I do think he was robbed of the Freitas fight. Also he has very close fights some people thought he lost to Campbell and Santa Cruz, but overall Casa was a solid champ and probably the best Cuban fighter since Napoles and Kid Gavilan. He was very hard to beat in his prime up to his fight with JMM. The JMM-Casa fight to me was a great performance by 2 masters.

Good points, but Casamayor clearly defeated Campbell, Nate didn't do anything in that fight. And Marquez was younger than Joel who was going into 37...

    Beat Corrales X3
    Beat Campbell
    Beat Katsidis

Would have probably gotten the decision over Castillo if the judges didn't have sympathy for Castillo because of Mayweather I.
Controversial loss to Freitas with a phantom knockdown and point deductions...
Those who saw the Santa Cruz and Katsidis fights know that he was old and shot for the Marquez fight which was even on the scorecards before the stoppage. How would have Marquez fared against the Casamayor of the Corrales III fight?

He deserves to get into the IBHOF eventually.

I thought he beat Corrales II, drew with Castillo and lost to Freitas.

I know the KD he suffered against Freitas was strange, but it was technically a KD, since a punch was landed. Also, the point deduction was fair, since Casamayor used his known dirty tricks (headbutts, clinching, holding, rabbit punches) all night on. Like the 3 judges, I had 114-112 for Freitas.

The best pro fighter but there has been so much talent that we don't even know about in the last 20-30 years.

:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl NOTHING landed. he backed up and slipped.

1:20 he doesn't even scratch his gloves.

a knockdown that never and a foul that was justified. made him 3 points behind.
casamayor won the fight. 116 113 if it where not for the knockdown thus being a draw.

    my thoughts anyways.

i think he is deserving of the hall of fame. the man at light weight, solid 2 weight world champion, fought the best apart from maybe floyd or maybe spadafora. also he was the first cuban amateur to become a world champion and is a figure head for the new cuban invasion we are experiencing now.

I thought Freitas won rounds 1,2,3,4,5 and 8. Plus KD and point deduction 114-112.

I had him winning against Freitas and Castillo, losing against Corrales in the 2nd fight, against Santa Cruz and Marquez.

You should learn to score rounds my friend. That fight wasn't even close, unlike the other two.
