1. Fury 2. Usyk 3. Wilder 4. Zhang 5. Joyce 6. AJ Joyce is still a top 5 heavyweight...He came up against a horrible style. New trainer is dumb AJ decisions and for fighters who can't accept they suck and can't improve.
He lost twice to the same guy. I think he might go on a winning streak from here especially on the domestic level. He can mix it with guys like Chisora and Whyte.
He needs to retire. God, what a punching bag Joyce is. Easy pickings for anybody that isn't intimidated by his size.
He can clean out Brit hype jobs before they get raised past domestic level. Clean Wardley, Clark, and the rest of the bums out so we can get some worthy fighters ranked.
I don't think a new trainers gonna do much at this stage I'm still a Joyce fan and hope to see him fight again He ain't getting no title shot now so go out with a bang in a few big name fights Dependant on what happens to Whyte, I'd be interested in them fighting
Esteemed elite boxing trainer Shane McGuigan agrees with esteemed elite poster Serge regarding Big Bang being all wrong for Big Joe, it being a real dumb move by Big Joe's team putting Big Joe in there with Big Bang in the first place, and that shot knocking almost any HW cold Timestamped This content is protected
The only thing that Joyce has to do is not to fight zhang again. That simple. He's still a top fighter in the division. He just picked the wrong oponent. I thank him for his massive balls and for giving us those 2 fights, but fighting zhang was not the best decision for his career. The first fight.... well.... he could have understimated zhang. But the second one? Anyone with a minimal idea about boxing knew it was a wrong choice, a big mistake. Anyway, there is a lot of boxing in Joyce. He doesn't need to change anything. **** happens, that's all.
Zhang's style is so anti-Joyce that it's almost impossible for Joyce to win. Joyce can't defend against the straight left and Zhang has massive power. Joyce can still beat the likes of Parker, Chisora, Whyte, Ruiz and a number of people in the top 10. He just need to stay away from massive punchers who can dent his chin and good boxers who can negate his pressure. I'm kinda interested in a Wilder fight to see how he performs against a orthodox puncher.
Joyce lost to a 6-6, 285 pound, southpaw who has been boxing for many years at the top of the amateur and pro game. Losing to Zhang is not a disgrace, anybody could lose to Zhang, nobody except Zhang's opponents has fought anybody like him. Zhang is going to be a tough fight for anybody and most of the top contemporary guys have fought southpaws and giants. Joyce, if he still trains hard and has the confidence would be a nightmare for anybody who is not Zhang.
Well, he’s not going to learn any new tricks overnight so a new trainer isn’t likely to make a difference. He is who he’s always been, and will remain so.
Joyce is still a dangerous opponent for virtually everyone else in the heavyweight division. Zhang was a matchup nightmare for him and will always be so, and no trainer on this planet can make it otherwise. He still has fights left in him and it's not inconceivable that he could get a belt before he retires. The only question that remains is if his confidence has been shot by those two losses to Zhang.
Trainer can't "learn" him speed. And that was the biggest issue. Someone of similar size, build, durability and physical strength but that was much faster off the trigger. Joyce isn't just slow offensively, he's slow defensively, on the react time. He doesn't react. That's why I call him Solomon Grundy. He got away with it against smaller guys or guys that were less sturdy. He honestly still can regardless of trainer. Guys his size and length that are as durable or buys with elite skill sets are gonna serve him everytime. So yeah he's still top 10, but he's probably shown his level. There's a few guys he just isn't gonna be able to beat.
