Does Juan LaPorte have the greatest chin ever?

i think it was last year wayne mccullough was voted "best chin ever" by ring mag(not sure which publication) but i found this a little bit dubious to be honest.without a doubt he had a great chin but the people that voted were all boxing writers-as he is himself now.i think it was a litle suspect to have your peers vote for you thats all.
i cant give a definite answer as i havent seen some of the boxers in action that have been discussed but i cant see many better than jake lamotta.his favoured trick was playing possum to a better fighter than him that was outpointing him and just as his opponent was about to finish him off jake would see an opening and ko the fellow.it wouldnt be allowed nowadays because the ref would quickly stop it-and rightly so.i heard lamotta interviewed recently and he sounds a little worse for wear mentally.anyone know how hes doing?

He had a helluva chin but there were others that had that chin to hang with him.Cobb, Green, McCall, and Hagler, definitley, Hagler.

 

The fight wasnt that close,Lockridge did well but i remember Chavez winning it convincingly i had it 116-113

Laporte has one of the best chins ive ever seen maybe the best but whos to say i agree with the post who said Villasana,also Chavez,Lamotta,Cobb,Chuvalo,Sanchez,Hagler,Mccall chins dont get any tougher than those ones.

Also havent heard anybody mention Laportes devastating ko over Lockridge, only time Lockridge was ever kod.

Mccullough had a great chin no doubt but ive seen him hurt before see the Rabanales fight,even Mccullough admitted he was badly hurt by the solid punchin(but not devastating puncher). Where as ive never seen laporte evern close to being hurt Villasana either. I understand any human can be hurt but if you want to split hairs well maybe that should but those 2 guys chins over Mccullough.

 

I'd say Margarito is better chinned than McCullough.

 

Jose L Lopez had a cast iron chin as good as the guys mentioned above.

 

That was pointed out by RafaelGonzal in post #28. His knockout of Lockridge off the ropes is usually what fans have in mind when referencing Juan's power. Ironically, this starching may have done LaPorte more harm than good, as he often seemed to me to be looking for the single shot with greater frequency after that stunner.

His chin didn't just stand up to punches, but several deliberately aimed hard elbows by the filthy Pedroza, who only had Sleazy Sammy Serrano as a peer in that department among his championship contemporaries. (Serrano nearly saved his title by seriously stunning Roger Mayweather with an elbow before the Black Mamba recovered to take him out.)
