I think he is top 25 for sure, mabey even top 10.

Of that list, Arguello, Tiger, Hearns, Louis, Williams, Camacho, and Jofre I would defintely put lower than Chavez. Arguello is the one who comes closest, followed by Hearns and Jofre. The others don't come close.

two exceptions: one-yes Duran did face a lightweight of Chavez caliber in Esteban Dejesus. Two Chavez never beat a fighter the caliber of Ray Leanord.

You have very valid points. However to Judge a Jr. Featherweights career for a shortcoming in a Welterweight fight?? Taylor was given another opportunity & Randall ,a third match was made. How many other fighters moved up just a little too far : Robinson(Maxim) Arguello(Pryor), Napoles(Monzon). Just to name a few. Chavez always fought all comers and no one wanted to step up until his age started to show. Not saying he was the absolute best , but during his prime Chavez defeated ALL fighters placed in front of him ,without exception.
Now I don't want to denegrade a fighter like Pernell Whitaker, but he defeated many of the same type of fighters Chavez fought early on. Also Arguably his best victory was against Buddy McGirt. Yet many have Whitaker solidly in the top twenty ATG list. He also later moved up & lost to top higher weight fighters & lost, but HIS legacy,or place in history was not so affected.
