    To Calzaghe's legacy?

Calzaghe's put himself into a no win situation fighting Hopkin's, win and he beat up an old man, lose and he's a Eurobum.

After beating Jeff Lacy, Calzaghe for a short time received a lot of respect in the boxing world until the dreaded Lacy amnesia kicked in. He then proved his talent again by dethroning 2 belt Viking warrior Mikkel Kessler.

Lacy having been on the wrong end of a one sided beating is now damaged goods and is judged in hindsight rightly or wrongly as an average fighter.

Kessler a young fighter in his prime was competitive with the older Calzaghe despite losing an unanimous decision. He didn't receive the beating Lacy was subjected to and is talking of fighting in the states in the near future. If he performs well against the big names in the future Calzaghe's win over him will look very impressive, if he fails in the US it will look bad for Calzaghe.

Like I have already said Calzaghe is in a no win situation (if he wins Hopkin's age will be blamed by some) this weekend. Most of the best fighters on Calzaghe's record are retired, Jeff Lacy is ruined, does how Kessler perform in the future have a significant impact on how Calzaghe is remembered?

Kessler going on to big things will make Calzaghe look great.

Kessler bombs and Calzaghe's biggest win (to date) is against an overhyped Euro fighter.

Yep, basically if Kessler cleans up then it will make him look much better on Calzaghes resume.

    :good

There's even a thread running right now saying Calzaghe gets no glory for beating a 43 year old. So if many believe this what Kessler does next is important.

Yes, it is important. Fortunately most of us have great faith in Mikkel's abilities, and will be ultimately be proved correct when we say Joe beat a p4p fighter

I agree with all this; however, Kessler needs to get back in the ring and start winning again. He is taking way too much time off. One loss, especially to Calzaghe, is no big deal.

Kessler has the potential to be a ATG. He just needs to fight and fight often!

As long as Kessler sticks with the mediocre Danish coach (who for example, hasn't at all helped with Kessler poor positioning of feet) he currently has, then I agree he just won't be good enough to make the P4P list and will be exposed again:good

Alot depends on how good Kessler will be. but I think joe still has some good wins in him. He says 2 more fights but I think he should go for atleast 3 after Hopkins. Pavlik, or Tarver/Erdei/Dawson/Bute some body of that ilk.

A while back I posed the question on this site "Who is the best fighter that Calzaghe has faced." Overwhelmingly the response was Mikkel Kessler.

Poor positioning of feet? You must talk of a different fighter!

If you getting exposed by a competetive lose to a P4P top 3 fighter? Then every fighter gets exposed when they lose a fight!

    Exposed as what?!

A quality fighter taking on another quality fighter and losing a competitive - and by the way - a technically top level fight. Have you seen the fight?

    Do you like boxing?

Exposed my ass. Why does some, less likeable type, believe that losing a fight equals being exposed:fire :fire

Give respect to good fighters fighting good fights - win or lose.

Your attitude is a problem, how can you expect the best to take on the best if you dont respect quality-boxing, only victory statistics.

Hell there are cabdriver out there with a 40-0-0 record:patsch

When Kessler sparks "Bad Chad" all the Calzaghe haters will see they were wrong.
