Does Khan realize he's a light welterweight? Will he ever fight the elite 140lbers?

    Give him time.

Just 3 fights ago people were writing him off completely, now he's being matched against the division's best.

Of course not, but he shouldn't suggest things he really wants no part of, like I said. Did you read that?

Can we not back off of guys who are just getting started and let them develop? I too resent the fact that everything in the division hinges on Khan. His accomplishments in the ring do not warrant the power that his stardom and promotional company provide for him.

But if we can step back from that for a second, can we not see that this is indeed a guy that got KO'd by a journeyman just a few fights ago, and probably needs some career building before he's tossed in with the big boys.

Besides that, Salita, Kotelnik and Paulie aren't slouches, and they are true 140 lb.ers. No, they don't have a big punch and they may not be at the premier elite level, but you gotta be damn good to beat those guys. And Khan outboxed all three with ease.

At this point in his career, I don't think he's being protected as much as he's being developed. He's not ready for Malignaggi speed and Maidana power, which Alexander may turn out to be. If you want to complain about an elite fighter whose built a career on smoke and mirrors, there's a guy one division north you could start a thread about.

So I'd give Khan another stepping stone fight. I don't want JMM because he's 36, faded and 140 is too heavy for him. I don't like Diaz either because he's a stylistically perfect (straight forward w/o a big KO punch) for a guy with the kind of speed Khan has. He presents nothing we don't already know Khan can handle.

I think Casamayor and Katsidis either one would give Khan some tests we don't know yet if he can pass. Katsidis is a lot like Diaz, but hits a lot harder. If he gets by one of those guys and still won't fight one of the big three, then we can start complaining.

    HE wants it.

His promotional team are right not to take the risk on such a green Khan.
