Not if he's going on to do bigger and better things.

It's not really necessary for a gatekeeper/journeyman to avenge losses, but Kirkland did get ****ing destroyed so he should want to fight Ishida again for that reason.

    Yes and no.

If he had looked better in this past fight w/ Molina, then I wouldn't give the Ishida rematch a second thought. But because he was spoiled and outclassed for long periods during that fight, it may be something to consider.

I'd like to see it, but Kirkland is looking at bigger things. An eliminator against Vanes and then a world title shot against Alvarez looks to be the plan. If he loses either of those the Ishida fight becomes a natural.

So he risks the chance of getting TKOed by him again? Not sure if that's a great idea.

Ishida is 37 now . If Kirkland beats him it will mean nothing . Kirkland only had what 2 lose and Ishida what 2 gain and now it is even more so .
Respect Ishida 4 what he did and 4 never getting stopped . Ishida vs Martinez will b a fight between 2 evenly aged and same sized fighters . y not make it happen ? c if Martinez can stop Ishida .

Its all about money, if a rematch was for a big payday (or a belt or a stepping stone) it would make sense. However, to fight him for revenge makes little sense because he is inline for a shot at the belt and bigger paydays regardless. If Ishida beats Pirog and gains a following it might be an interesting match-up but right now its better to forget that fight and look at it as a bump in the road. I dont think Ishida would want another fight . . . he has had his 15 mins of fame and has used it for a couple of good paydays (williams and now Pirog for a trinket) if he gets blown out in a rematch he loses his main calling card.

    Agree wholeheartedly.

Kirkland has stepped up his opposition since Ishida which gives him a free pass. Unless he loses one of his next high profile matches, fans won't cry for a rematch.

I quite like Kirkland's matchmaking. He is not a particularly talented boxer but immensely entertaining due to his crap chin but ridiculous power and keeps fighting top 10 opposition.

If he can'T get a high profile opponent than yes.

Make a quick short statement that first time was a fluke...if it was...

Hell yes. That was not just a loss. That was a humiliating loss. Fight and beat Bundrage and then defend against Ishida. Oh, stay away from Molina. That is a stylish nightmare if they meet again.

During the Molina fight, I thought I heard the commentators say GBP are discussing plans for Kirkland to fight Bundrage not Alvarez and now it seems Vanes might move up to fight Chavez, Jr. What a joke. What happened to Lee who is a real MW?
