Well, as much as I like the Swan - no! He lost to Gassiev already and refused to enter the tournament. If he wants a shot he needs to become a mandatory or come up with the big bucks. For me - defense against Tony Bellew at the O2 in August (big payday in UK), followed by another one against Andre Ward for Christmas (potentially another big payday in US).

No he shouldn't. His time at the elite level is over. He can't beat any of the top guys. And Gassiev dominated him in my book.

The Canadian MW tried to back door his way into a shot against Ward. No Lebedev should have to face a Dorticos or someone first.

It's a good fight for the winner of the tournament for sure. I also scored the fight to Leb, only by a round mind you

Based on him being in the top 10 now, a long time title holder and/or contender, and just a year or so ago he was seen as possibly the top guy in the division he’d be perfectly fine as a title defense if the tournament winner decides to stay at cruiserweight.

Based on his age and current run of 1 win(a minor one at that) in 2 years by the time he does fight again I think several guys are more deserving or at least more intriguing.

The tournament loser, Breidis, Dorticos, and Glowacki all deserve a title shot above Lebedev as does Vlasov with his current strong run. If Bellew beats Haye again he is more interesting of a fight than Lebedev as well.

This. I'd love to see a Lebdev fight the winner of Usyk-Gassiev. After all of the wars Lebdev's been through he's earned it. Especially considering Dorticos was a major disappointment. Dorticos has fast hands, but no adaptability, since he kept falling for the same uppercut and combination over and over again.

If Gassiev wins a Lebdev rematch would be great, since in my opinion the knockdown is what won Gassiev the fight. Lebdev even at this age is very durable and underestimated Gassiev's power and paid for it. He adjusted and didn't let it happen again, but that was just enough for him to let the fight slip away.

I remember it being a clear win for the gass man myself. I also remember it being competitive enough wherein I thought the judges might job gassiev and give the nod to wannabe military man Lebedev.
