Nah. Nothing special about his career tbh.. no stand out performances or stand out moments & a lot of his fights were dull. Very good fighter but not a stand out noteworthy one imo.

No. The funny thing about his career is that he missed the best in each division (Anselmo Moreno, Rigondeaux, Gary Russel Jr.) until he got to Davis. More of a guy who deserved to barely be in the top ten pfp at some point than hof fighter.

It's true where is that dude? used to be a big fan of him, but then he just stopped fighting, never ended up giving Frampton that rematch back, didn't want to fight Gary jr & then after being defeated by Tank he has once again disappeared,

I do see him attend almost every PBC fight card with his family though.

4 weight division champ. His best wins on his resume are Abner Mares, Carl Frampton, Kiko Martinez, and Cristian Mijares. Would have helped if he had faced Gary Russell Jr or Guillermo Rigondeaux.

    Borderline HOFer for me.

    No.

He's still running away from rigo. I'm sure he still has nightmares with him.

He spent his whole career doding and dodgin and dodging more. His career is a freaking shame. Wasted talent.

This cannot be a serious question. There are quite a few undeserving fighters that are in there, but not this undeserving!!

Damn, I'd forgot that he fought in a total of 4 divisions.

Another example of modern hyperbole from the "yes" crowd. Strip away the fluff of those 4-weight titles (he was never Champion; he never faced the best) and you are left with wins over Frampton, Mares (2x), Martinez, Terrazas, and a roster of has-beens or never-beens. Frampton is the best name there and it was a 1-1 split, with him opting out of the rubber-match. His belts at 118 and 130 were handouts, coming against unranked foes. After that he chewed up faded smaller guys like Morel, Munoz, and Mijares. It's a good resume but it's Broner-esque in practice and nowhere near great. Had Santa Cruz competed in a bygone era, he probably would have been a high ranking bantamweight at 118 and 126, at best.

    Ducked a trilogy with Frampton

Lost a lot of respect for him after that

GRJ would have done a lot to shake up the division if he didnt go into effective retirement with covid levels of inactivity.
