if you break it down to simple math, cotto > quintana > williams > margarito. does this logic apply to this fight or could it be a paper-rock-scissors type of situation?

    discuss!

Boxing rarely works how you describe. Cotto might be favored over Margarito, but not because of how those other guys fights went.

Logic doesn't apply in boxing most of the times.

Boxing doesn't consistently work that way even in an A-beat-B-who-beat-C situation, let alone an A-B-C-D chain with a third degree of separation.

If it works like that then Mayorga should have beat Oscar. And he could also beat Mosley if they ever fought.

This is a tough fight. Margarito took some huge shots from Cintron. I just rewatched it today.
I think at one point he took a flush right uppercut followed by 2 flush right hands and he was not even stunned or wobbled by it all!!! That might not be impressive to some people but this was Kermit Cintron. The guy that had the 2nd best KO of the year in which it looked as if he killed Mathysse.

Cotto is better in every department though except maybe chin and workrate.
Power i believe they are pretty even in. I think this will be a tough fight for both and if Cotto can box more than brawl then he should win. If its a close inside fight and Margarito lands those wicked uppercuts then it might be a short night for Cotto.

One quick question to anyone. Has anyone ever seen Margo hurt to the body??? I dont think Cotto will hurt Margo to the head but maybe his body is vulnerable.

Logic says that Cotto will destroy Margarito simply because he's three levels above him.

Cotto will beat Margarito 8-4 if not by TKO. He won't go down, though. Margarito has the best chin at welter by far and will keep coming forward. One thing AM has and it's power from distance. You can never count him out. I just think that Cotto has grown into the weight now. The only thing that can stop him is going with Buddy McGirt to train him now that Uncle Evangelista and him are through.
