I've seen him struggle with boxer/movers for a while now and he still can't figure them out. I think he would benefit from having a new trainer to be honest. He's the same every fight, he shows no new wrinkles and to be an elite fighter you need to be able to do it all.

I think so, but he needs to learn how to cut off the ring.

Ortiz running a marathon didn't help either.

Lopez is not a man with a high boxing IQ. There is a lot he doesn't know how to do. What he does know how to do very well is fight if his opponent is aggressively fighting back. Lopez has good power and excellent quick twitch reactions. He still has what he's always had and he still lacks what he's always lacked.

We can't be mad at Ortiz though,he followed his gameplan from round 1 to round 12. Teo just couldn't adapt, he couldn't make a fight out of it.

I'm Hella mad at Ortiz. **** like that makes boxing look bad, and it's not like he did much more than make Lopez look bad. He didn't hurt him, batter him, dominate him, or out-slugg him. He barely landed a few more punches than Lopez.

Yeah, he definitely has it when up against an aggressive opponent. Against a slick counterpuncher, he's never had it, and never well.

It doesn't make boxing look bad imo, this is what boxing is. Terrible fights have happened in every era.

I think it does make boxing look bad when fighters don't want to engage.

Casual fans are what keeps boxing from becoming like bowling. Casual fans hate fights like Shakur's last, or this one.

I get the frustration, but I really can't complain that much. This is what boxing is.. sometimes were lucky and we get Hagler-Hearns, and sometimes we're unlucky and we get DLH-Trinidad. :nusenuse:

His current team clearly don't understand his limitations given then made the Ortiz fight in the first place, so a change to a new coach could perhaps see some improvements, he is only 26 and I maybe he could learn to cut off the ring and be a better pressure fighter.

But right now he is what he is, great at countering fighters that come to him, but very average when forced to press the action. Canelo was another fighter who had similar stylistic issues as the Trout and Lara fight proved and while it's still not his forte he has gotten better at it, so Lopez with the right team could lessen what is an obvious flaw in his style.

Which Hernandez, Genaro or Carlos? I thought Canelo-Lara was an OK fight. I had it a draw. I had to think if youre saying Victor Ortiz vs Josesito lopez for a minute, cuz I know that was a good fight. Lol

Famoso. I know Floyd broke his knuckle, but casuals don't care, they just remember Floyd running and pot shotting.

Yeah he broke his hand at some point during the fight, I think it was off an uppercut. A broken hand In boxing is always something to take into account for a not so good performance.
