I'll start by saying it was a close fight but imo Maidana clearly loss the match. Floyd adjusted, outlanded, and outboxed Chino down the stretch. Whether u think he won or loss I think weall can agree Maidana fought a dirty foul fest of a fight. After tackling, kneeing, rabbit punching, nutt punching, biting, arm twisting, head butting, elbowing, etc...should Floyd even consider fighting this guy again? We already know Chino is not going to outbox him, a rematch would just be another opportunity to foul, bite, and wrestle.

What (Other than a check) does Floyd get from defeating Maidana again? I don't think a second win helps his legacy, I prefer to see a new opponent or a reestablished one, Cotto at 155 would be nice...

No. It was a clear Floyd win if not by a terribly large margin.

Maidana deserves it equal to Cotto deserving it. By most fighters standards, their performance in defeat wouldn't warrant a rematch. But it's so rare to see Floyd lose 3 rounds and have to work hard in the rest that in a sense, they both do deserve it.

However, I would rather Floyd fought somebody else rather than Maidana if he stays at WW. If he is willing to move up at all, then Cotto II at MW is the fight to be had.

yes it was closer than people are saying and maidana was a handful for floyd, floyd was out of his comfort zone. floyd might just be on his way down and maidana has been improving with every fight. i'm sure being in there with floyd made maidana improve by leaps and bounds. put maidana in w a top quality boxer for his next fight if he can destroy him i would love to see a mayweather maidana rematch!!! there aren't too many fights out there that i see being as competitive for floyd at this point. he should fight pac already. maidana looked way better than mayweathers last 17 opponents. delahoya and cotto were the only ones to do halfway decent against mayweather out of his last 17 opponents..

no, he had his chance and came close already. no way he'll come close to winning 4-5 rounds ever again.

Yes, and with the gloves that he wants to use that was already approved, not dictated by *****-ass "Protect my cheeks please" gloves that Mayweather forced.

    NSAC forced, you mean.

They were the ones who officially made Maidana change his planned gloves.

Unless you are saying that Mayweather controls the NSAC...

    What is this revisionist history?

It was a close fight that a lot of people scored by 1 round. Yes he deserves it.

The NSAC approved a replacement set of puncher's gloves for Maidana, Mayweather objected. It was HIS camp that dictated the glove choice. Then went on to state that was because he worried about his health and the state of boxing being too brutal.

I think there should be a rematch, but it shouldn't be one of the fights he have left with showtime. He have three fights left, why waste one of them on Maidana, who clearly has know respect for him or the sport. At first I was saying he should rematch him in his next fight, but it's useless. Another fight with Maidana will do nothing for his legacey.

Maybe he does but I don't wanna see it and I seriously doubt he'll do even as well as he did the first time let alone win.
