No way. I would give that to Tyson. Remember Frank Bruno and Mike's finishing punches?

I cant remember anyone other than Nacho Beristain's own fighters who incorporate the uppercut with the consistency that they do.....

JMM really uses varying degrees, distance and angles to that uppercut......but the great Finito Lopez' uppercut was more explosive imo.

The uppercut is not a good idea to throw if you dont have close enough distance to throw it.....

Marquez uses it occasionally from distance because he's so good with it.....but you never want an opponent to expect you to throw it from long range, because if a good fighter comes to expect that uppercut being thrown from such a range, all he has to do is take a half step back and fire a counter, right as the uppercut is flying right in front of you short of its target, and it could be lights out for the fighter who threw that uppercut from long distance......

.....good example of a bad attempt from long range was Evander Holyfield's KO of Buster Douglas......
Douglas unleached a right uppercut from long range, and Evander dipped back half a step and nailed Douglas with a shot right on the point of his chin......Lights out!

If you thrown an uppercut from long range, you better no damn well what you're doing!:D

Not as many uppercut launched by JMM to Pac, because Pac does'nt like to stay at close quarters......and at close quarters, like in the Juan Diaz fight, is the best time to throw that uppercut.

Pac's defensive weakness is when he lunges and is off target throwing that left hand of his....and to a fighter with an orthodox stance, the right hand counter is the easiest punch to throw and land.

Just a case of JMM picking them apart as they come!

i always feel that JMM and Lopez are copycats of each other but lopez has a more devastating uppercut. a punch that doesnt need to be set up...i think that's the main difference between JMM and Finito

:verysad One thing tha JMM fails to do is lean all the way into the uppercut and bend his knees to create greater leverage into the punch. Doing such a thing generates a very significant amount of extra power into the uppercut. Someone like Andre Berto right now actually does that better than Marquez, and of course Tyson was a master at it.

Its by design......JMM is always on the lookout to unleach combinations......
......fighters like Tyson want to put a halt to matters with a single shot....

.....and when you're up against a peer on your level, the fighter looking to put a halt to matters with a single shot, is going to find his way home a sound loser.
