Nope, nor does he have an elite level fighter in their
    prime win. Nevermind an ATG.

Which ATG fighters in their prime could he have reasonably fought and missed? And was it a result of him ducking or did the fights just not happen because of boxing politics?

Castillo is considered by most the best LW in about 2 decade's, an argument can be made that he was an (ATG LW) in his prime.

Castillo in his prime at 135 would probably have good odds to beat Morales,Barerra at LW,if for no other reason than neither one did anything at 135.

I agree with this assessment 100% That being said, I do think Mayweather is a great boxer. Wildly overrated, but, certainly a deserving Hall Of Fame candidate when he retires.

If there are only 50 or less "All Time Greats" ever, which is generally the number used by most I've seen on this forum whenever this topic comes up every so often, then Barrera doesn't make the list either.

Mayweather can only fight the guys that are available in his era.

SO who exactly are these ATG's of this era? That we can say definitively would be considered top 50 P4P fighters ever?

I'd say that's Manny, FLoyd and Bernard Hopkins. I think right after them in the second tier would be Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar De La Hoya. The 3rd tier would be guys that are sure fire HOf'ers, but just a step under the names above like a Miguel Cotto.

So really, who was he able to fight at any point in his career that he ended up missing out on that was a sure fire ATG? The only guy I can think of is Kostya at 140 lbs, but at the time when he was the dominant kingpin at JWW, FLoyd was still campaigning 2 weight classes underneath him at 130 lbs. By the time FLoyd actually moved up, Kostya aged considerably and ended up losing his titles by the time FLoyd got to JWW.

He took on Marquez (albeit at a CW) and Cotto and DLH at the full 154.

There's not that many ATG's out there, and even fewer for him to pick from that are in and around his weight class. He beat everyone there was to beat at 130, missed out on only 2 big fights at LW against Freitas and Casamayor (2 guys who seemingly didn't want to fight Mayweather. Anyway at the time they were both in their own little triangle with Chico Corrales,) and he basically took on everyone at WW and JMW.

The only guys he didn't fight around WW or JMW were Paul WIlliams, Antonio Margarito and Sergio Martinez. And while all of them are excellent fighters, I wouldn't consider any of them ATG's, and to go one step further, I'd say Sergio is the only definitive HOf'er out of those 3 men.

In other words Floyd has no prime ATG's on his resume, that is clear. Many other ATG's don't either. That isn't a prerequisite to being considered one.

I don't understand the humor in this.

Barrera was prime in 2003? :huh

A twice-retired, fourteen-year veteran, nearing the end of his campaign at featherweight, his 5th weight division?

    Really?

That he was ranked highly on contemporary p4p lists is factual, and those rankings were indeed accurate, indicative of his greatness that he was still a capable fighter at that level that deep into his career.

That he was "prime" is a matter of revisionist (and, I suspect, disingenuous) opinoin.

He was only 29 years old Of course he was and he was on a run of some good wins even after his fight with Pac he remained unbeaten for 3 more years and he also beat morales.

It's not even debatable Pac beat a prime bareera
