You realize '29 years old and prime' is hardly normative south of, say, lightweight, right? Thirty for a smaller-weights boxer (especially more so the more expansive, more grueling, and tougher matched their record and more physically demanding their style) is the equivalent of 45 to a heavyweight.

People like Pacquiao and Mayweather with their longevity and weight-climbing are complete anomalies.

Barrera wasn't shot at 29 but damn sure wasn't "prime".

 

I would love to hear which ATG's IN THEIR PRIME several ATG's have beaten.

Which prime ATG's did Willie Pep beat? Muhammad Ali? Sugar Ray Robinson? Eder Jofre? Roberto Duran?

Which prime ATG's did Marvin Hagler beat? Please, do tell...

Most of these legends have, what, maybe one or two if any that qualify?

Wrong. In general terms you might say 29 is the prime of someone's life but in a pro boxing context and specifically for someone who debuted at flyweight and embarked on a tough schedule for the next fourteen years, no, it absolutely isn't.

What boxing_master is saying is that if you're arrogant enough to refer to yourself as the BEST boxer ever, you should have defeated at least ONE atg in their prime to back up your claim, otherwise you're just making a mockery of the term.

 

You're making a big claim that has two glaring open questions related to it:

1. Was Barrera in his career prime?

2. Is Barrera an "All Time Great?"

Well then you should have no problem listing to me all the "atg in their prime" that Sugar Ray Robinson beat? Widely considered the GOAT, he ought to have loads and loads flowing out of his pockets, right? Enlighten me.

 

MAB was a GREAT fighter. ATG though? That's HIGHLY debatable. Same goes with El Terrible, a great fighter no doubt, but ATG? We're talking a completely different category of skillset and resume when comparing ATG fighters with a HOF fighter.

IMO, the 3 ATG's that are currently fighting are Manny, FLoyd and Hopkins. These 3 have been LONG standing champions that have spanned well over a decade now, and have taking on pretty much all comers.

**Let's make this easier on you- PROVIDE ONE ATG FIGHTER SINCE FLOYD WAS RELEVANT- SAY 1998- THAT FLOYD HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIGHT AND CHOSE NOT TO. Think a little while about it, any only mention ATG fighters, not good/very good/HOF fighters. THERE'S A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN TERMS and I think you're trying your best, as usual, to be an attention starved poster.

You notice that these stupid **** heads can't point to anything in Berrera's record or fights to show that he was past it. He won his next 6 fights for christ's sake. So they have to invent their own metrics.
