Does Mayweather have any weaknesses in the ring?

Floyd's defense is so good that Mosley landed more punches on him coming off a 1 year 4 month layoff then he did on Pacquiao.

Honestly, the only weakness I can think of that FMJ has in the ring is his complacency...his lack of concern with pleasing the fans. The last time I can recall that he went balls out in an effort to entertain, is the Ndou fight.

 

"Weaknesses" in regards to winning, I'm on the fence about his chin- either its solid or not fully tested. Other than that, I'd probably only say his punch output, but he's very good at making the opponent match his pace, where then he beats them with ring generalship and accuracy.

 

Yes. His output could be higher, although this is only a weakness in his very few close bouts. He usually doesn't need a high output when breaking his opponent down. He maybe lacks the "finishers" instinct at this stage in his career. I have no doubt that he could have gotten the ref or Richardson to step in against Mosley if he upped the pressure a touch more.

I wouldn't say his chin is a true weakness, this is countered by his very good defense and his incredible recovery speed.

I've seen someone mention that he throws the 3 same shots over and over again. How is this a weakness? This would be a weakness if he ran out of ideas in a good number of his bouts, and still continued to throw those shots. But no, his punch variety is not what it used to be...but its not a weakness because his opponents can't stop the punches. Its like saying Wlad's weakness is that he jabs so much, again, not a weakness because his current opposition has no answer for it.

he's figuring out his opponent in the early rounds since he studies no tape. once he figures out his opponent and gets into his rhythm, the fight is pretty much his.

This is the way to open him up, prepare to put yourself in danger so you can counter, you must have impeccable timing or luck as well (see vid below of how he gets hit, almost all of them are counters), I would also throw a lot of feints (like how JMM got him with that one good shot). honestly, other than that theres not much you can do to get though his defense.

in my humble opinion, he has an under rated chin (see vid below). I would say Mosley clocked him the hardest and he never fell and recovered pretty quick after that.

I can't believe people still buy in to that, "I don't watch tapes of my opponent crap". Mayweather is very professional when it comes to fighting, he cuts no corners, you can pretty much guarantee that he watches his opponents previous bouts.

 

maybe they should document his training camp and have a show about it. a show that documents him preparing for the fight that followed him 24/7 in the upcoming weeks before the fight. Maybe that will let us know if he studies tape or not. If only they had a show that followed him 24/7, then we can see. Like if they followed him 24/7 before he fought De Lahoya, or if they followed him 24/7 before he fought Hatton, or if they followed him 24/7 before JMM and Mosley, then we can know if he 24/7 he watch tapes 24/7.
