Silly, very silly. True, no other fighter has done exactly what he did, but some have achieved even greater things, different things but better.

Roy Jones Jr and Sugar Ray Leonard were definitely two of these.

It can also be argued that the achievements of Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins were better. Oscar won more belts and chased the best fighters around while Mayweather avoided them. Hopkins was middleweight king for 10 years then jumped up and won the light-heavyweight crown.

I already briefly listed those of Hopkins and De La Hoya.

But here as Jones's and Leonard's, both of which anyone with half a brain would recognize as better than Mayweather's:

    LEONARD
Named Fighter Of The Decade for the 80s
Wins over Benitez, Duran, Hearns, and Hagler
SEVEN MAJOR WORLD TITLES at FIVE WEIGHT DIVISIONS

    JONES JR
Named Fighter Of The Decade for the 90s
Wins over Toney, Hopkins, McCallum, Ruiz at heavyweight
SEVEN MAJOR WORLD TITLES at FOUR WEIGHT DIVISIONS
1st fighter in over 100 years to win world title at middleweight and heavyweight

    MAYWEATHER
5 world titles in 5 weight divisions
    Pound-for-pound no 1 for 2 years
Wins over 35-yr-old De La Hoya, and not much else. Castillo, Corrales, Judah & Gatti are a long way from Hagler, Duran, Toney or Hopkins.

    That enough?

I wouldn't say overall but at junior lightweight he definitely dominated. Look at what he did to Diego Corrales. He made that dangerous fighter just look bad. As welterweight however, he did not defend the WBC belt against any other welterweight contender. I'd say currently Cotto, Margarito, and Williams are the class of the welterweight division with Cotto being the clear #1. If Cotto defeats Margarito, he will confirm his status as the best welterweight in the world.
