The hate for mayweather here is beyond words. For you guys to honestly think the man I'd broke is laughable. These promoters still owe him money for previous bouts that he has had in his career.

The only boxer who has changed the state of the game in boxing in regards to paydays is broke, but I'll bet all the other boxers with their traditional contracts aren't broke... Yeah ****in right.

dela hoya made more money than mayweather, oscar has made more money than the other top 2 boxing earners added together tyson and floyd made $300m each, and oscar made over $700m

floyd said he made $70m for the oscar fight, but the fight contract that can be found in google says he got paid $30m for it, take half away for tax and it makes floyds claims he had the largest payday in the history of the sport laughable.

how come floyd got evicted out of that gym in vegas for not paying rent?

i bet my life on it that floyd mayweather will end up in money trouble.

living a billionaires lifestyle, without the billionaires bank balance.

As long as he's tweeting pics of his bets and dropping 50 g's at a strip club, it means that a return to the ring is inevitable.

A lot. That's what I mean. As long as he's being flashy, more money is going out than coming in and there's only one way for Floyd to make major money.

the thing is even if he lost 2 or 3 fights, he still has the pac fight to fall back on, he says hes retired, but truefull i see him having maybe 5 more.

If he doesn't get his spending habits under control he will end up broke. It may not be anytime soon, but after he can no longer make money in the ring, which isn't all that far away.
Houses, cars, clubs, child support, taxes, entourages, jewelry, gambling, lawyers....every where he looks there is somebody trying to suck his pockets dry, and then you add to that his own self destructive gambling habit in there and it won't end good.
I think there is some element of truth to what Bobby says here. Floyd may not be in poverty by the time he fights again, but he will likely be in need of a large infusion of cash.
After his last fight, and after the huge tax hit, he didn't make enough to keep a lifestyle like his going. He's likely gambled half of it away already, his legal fees are certainly through the roof, and that just scratches the surface of his expenses.
I'm sure he'll be back in the ring before the summer of 2013.
Just take a look at "Broke" on ESPN 30/30 and see how quickly athletes can end up broke, no matter how much they are making.

I'll say this for once and for all. He has horrible spending habits but his handlers have set aside what he can gamble on and what he can use to buy cars and jewelry and spend on strippers. The man isn't broke. I know this because I work for one of many firms that handle "Floyd Sinclairs" finances. Now how long he can sustain these spending habits is another story

if floyd makes $50m for a fight half of that is gone staight away in taxes. thats no lie, thats just how it goes, al haymon and his uncle take 10% each? or a flat out $1-2m each? who knows. but i doubt he has grossed more than $30m in any fight.

I've always thought this was the case. I thought his retirement after the Hatton fight was genuine, and he only came back cuz he needed the money.
