Plenty of boxers don't watch tape. Many times, it's counterproductive. It gives guys a false sense of security. Did you see Shane watching film on 24/7? It didn't look like he was getting much out of it. Shane knows how to fight. He's better off letting Richardson watch film and follow his strategy and make his own adjustments during the fight.

To my knowledge I cant remember any other fighters just simply adapting. At least if they do they havent said it openly. It just impresses me If its true.

He says he doesnt, meaning he really does. If he has time to watch 24/7 episodes you know he's in there watching Mosley fights.

"When I get up in the ranks, I want to be just like you."

According to Shane, Floyd had been watching him awhile back.

I do think he over plays his ability to adapt, I think he comes in with a clear game plan and he just works through the kinks until his plan starts to become effective.

Thats not whats being asked here, ofcourse he watches boxing matches but it's a question of whether he studies tapes of his opponents for the purpose of a strategy!

Because he thinks he pioneered boxing.

Think back in the day when films of fighters were so extremely rare, every single fighter was adapting on the fly.

Thats when guys like willie pep were fighting.

Wouldn't count out the possibility of him watching a match only once being good enough for him to form a strategy. A good counter-puncher with extreme adaptability like him would be able to see openings that other people can't see imo.

Well again if we're sayin Mayweather is like a Willie Pep and can that effectively adapy despite technology being available he never has to study an opponent and is undefeated, its a little impressive.

Of course he does. And his uncles breaks it down for him. That's probably why there are no cameras in the gym sometimes......

so far the majority of the votes say that he studies footage of opponents and cannot simply adapt. Not his uncle watching for him. Is that an accurate statement?

I really don't see why it's so unbelievable that he doesn't watch tapes. Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto don't watch tapes either. It's pretty useless actually. As long as the trainer is watching, that's all that matters.

Floyd was never fully able to adapt or find an answer to Oscar's jab.... so, he should have studied more of him.
