He might not study them himself. That dose not mean that someone on his team dose not study them and relay information to him. I am also sure that he spars with partners who can act like whoever he is fighting next in their sparing seasions. I am sure he goes to boxing matchs and picks up information there as well.

Roger does. I don't think he does.

If the trainers watching, than the fighter is absolutely "watching"

Floyd has said that he has gameplans he follows for each opponent

Watching a fighter from a third-person view is different than watching the same fighter from a first-person view.

That being said, I don't know if Floyd himself watches tapes along with Roger, or if it's only Roger watching tapes and emulating the opponent so that Floyd can concentrate more on what his opponent is going to look like in first-person.

If Floyd never adapted or found an answer to Oscar's jab, then why was Oscar's jab only effective in two rounds? Oscar was able to offset Floyd's offesne with the jab in the 7th, and for half of the 8th. That's it. His jab wasn't much of a factor for the rest of the fight.

Dont misunderstand me I believe him, its just that he's not only undefeated but fairly easily defeats opponents makes alot of good fighters look very inferior. Cotto and Williams dont necessarily do that. He's either a liar, or incredibly diligent at executing a gameplan and adapting on a fly. Hence spelling serious trouble for SSM.

I'd really believe he doesn't if he didn't have the "I'm bigger than you so why would I waste my time" train of thought. And just keeps it quiet. Or if he didn't try to say he missed Shane/Margarito.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't, and lets Roger do the work.

This makes no sense. If his trainer is watching and devises a gameplan, then why does Floyd need to watch film? Floyd has a gameplan because his uncle comes up with one.

Yes very very true. If he's really that good at adapting and following a 3rd person gameplan. Then SSM and Manny Pacquiao have some serious problems.:deal

You have to account for listening to your corner.
This isn't floyd being an adaptation master, this is him following a game plan and doing what roger says.

He has an idea of what his opponent does, but he still adapts to different situations. There's no real way you can do that at the drop of the hat without having some kind of talent.

I think the real answer is somewhere in the middle

There it goes right there. The guy is great at sticking to the gameplan, and he's great at making adjustments. There are so many variables in boxing. Film study will only do so much for you. Shane can watch all the film he wants, none of that is going to imporve his footspeed/footwork or jab. It's his weaknesses in those areas that are most likely to cause him to lose. Roger is clearly going to tell Floyd to stay off the ropes and the keep the fight in the middle of the ring. They will also work on avoiding that big left hook from Shane.

And it's based on the film. Having a trainer watch film for you and coming up with a gameplan is even more studious than merely watching fights yourself.

If Floyd can win without any gameplan than it's all adaptability, but nobody is that great(probably). Team Mayweather uses film

I think he watches film, but by thinking that it doesn't mean I think he can't adapt right in the moment.:patsch

Later after the fight Oscar said that he got tired.

... but did you see that even the crowd and Hopkins from the 5th row was yelling for Oscar jab... they could see that Floyd did not have an answer for it.
