Does media hype for Joshua make you root for opponent

No, you've got the facts wrong.
AJ already has two major belts but only had to beat one "champion", who may have been the worst ever.

 

The point is you said he should be everywhere because he is the unified heavyweight champion of the world and because of that the current level of hype isn’t enough. The last person to do that was two years ago by beating the lineal champion. The hype he received at the time from the public and media was no where near what Joshua gets.

Joshua arguably hasn’t fought any champions. Martin won the vacant belt that Fury was stripped of in his previous fight and Wlad wasn’t a champion when he fought Joshua the WBA was vacant.

He still should be congratulated on his achievements but they aren’t much different than what another boxer achieved two years before other than he has defended said belts.

I don't mind the hype really because so far he has taken tough challenges and backed it all up. I like Joseph Parker, he seems a very down to earth guy. But I think it will be better for the division if Joshua wins (in terms of ever seeing a unified champ). I just couldn't see Parker and Wilder taking the risk of fighting each other as neither brings enough money to the table.

 

Joshua's just the most marketable or well marketed boxer by far, in the UK.
It has little to do with his achievements compared to other boxers.
It's largely the way he looks, partly his style of fighting, and some very clever marketers behind him.
He's like Beckham was.
Unfortunately boxing, unlike football, doesn't have a knowledgeable mass following to distinguish image from sporting realities, hence the SKY-Hearn& various lackeys substituting decent informed presentation with unnecessary levels of biased hyperbole.

 

I am British, Joshua is British but I want Parker to win and KO Joshua in the process, I am not a fan of Joshua and I don't have to support him just because we are the same nationality, I couldn't care less about nationalities and ill support who ever I want, so I hope Parker does a job on Joshua and de-rails the hype Train !

 

A little but it's more to see Hearn's face and the lads at work who think AJ-Ali is a hard fight to call. Though I suppose the latter is a product of the hype.

Having a big scare, showing vulnerabilties and maybe some help from a blatantly partial referee, so it's clear it might all end abruptly for him.
