He had some difficult personal problems that kept him from the ring for a while but, I am led to believe, they are in the past now.

Booth is a good fighter but, in my opinion, a focused Hunter wins.

Booth is the best i have seen him in a while. Hunter hasn't looked so good since Molitor. I think Booth will take this RSF or corner retirement don't think hunter has too much in the tank.

I think the power and style that Hunter will bring to the ring will be too much for Booth at this weight. Hopefully we will get to see a great fight and both fighters can come out of it with respect.

I would have hoped that Booth would be at a lower weight if he can make it ok.

Nottingham veteran Jason Booth defends his British super-bantamweight title against fellow veteran (and former holder) Michael Hunter in Sunderland on October 16.
Booth, who turned pro 13 years ago, has prospered at flyweight, super-flyweight and bantamweight in the past and won the British title at super-bantamweight earlier this year with a cuts stoppage of Liverpool prospect Mark Moran. At 31, Booth proved he is not ready to give way to the youngsters in a young man’s division.
    He is still looking lively.
Hunter is not. Also 31, the scourge of the Hartlepool bouncers retired early last year after a failed attempt to wrest the IBF super-bantamweight title in Hartlepool in 2006, followed by a couple of ‘iffy’ decision wins, but his announcement always looked like one of those ‘want a break and a binge’ things and sure enough Hunter came back to outscore decent Frenchman Osman Aktas over eight rounds last December, although he hasn’t fought since, surprisingly, because his rust showed against Aktas. Nevertheless, Hunter believes he can still be a force in the division and was once British, Commonwealth and European super-bantamweight champion after a classic 12-rounder against Esham Pickering in Hartlepool in 2005.
He is also mandatory challenger to Booth.
I would like to have seen Hunter get in a couple of fights this year. As already stated, Michael has not been looking great since Canada’s classy Steve Molitor pasted him in five rounds for the world title three years ago and we still don’t know how rusty he is or, indeed, how much he has left. Plus, he is exceedingly tight at super-bantamweight. There was talk of him fighting at featherweight or even higher when he announced his comeback - no, he is squeezing his lanky frame back down to 8st 10lbs on relative home turf in the North East.
Bigger crowd support (and Hunter is the biggest thing in Hartlepool since the poor ******) is thus equalized.
"Two smooth" Booth, more comfortable at the weight and looking less battle-worn than the fiery, aggressive challenger (who dragged himself off the canvas twice to grind out that win over Pickering), comes through another blood and guts encounter to retain the coveted Lonsdale Belt.

If Jason's on form he dismantles Hunter. Hunter is a ok fighter but was badly overrated and was exposed by a slick fighter in Molitor and i think Jason is slick enough to win this on a wide UD.

    Booth points 5/6
    Booth stoppage 4/1

    Betfair odds.

I'm tempted to say Booth by stoppage at those odds, but he was taken the distance by Rocky Dean last time..... but Hunter hasn't made the weight in three years and was lucky to get a decision against al-Hamidi (isn't everyone :nut)

    Thoughts guys?

I think if Booth is on form he can out work Hunter and make it hard for Hunter to get to him...his superior skills will be the difference and i'm not to sure about Hunters will and want to win...Booth is quietly effective to the body and i could see him sinking a few in and Hunter going no more and calling it a day in the ring. Last time against Dean the York Hall was sweltering and Booth's workrate was phenomenal. I'd say Booth on points is safe bet but i'd be tempted like yourself to go for stoppage.

You could weight your stakes to guarantee being up.....

I'm most likely going to do that, don't see Hunter winning at all, but it's bugging me whether to go for points or stoppage.

Sitting here thinking about it i'm swaying towards having a few quid on a stoppage win for Booth. As you say Hunters not made this weight for a long time and he's big guy aswell.
