Should Tyson be rated alongside Dempsey, Ali and Liston?

lol! I was comparing it to his fight v Liston because someone stated Foreman only had 3 title fights during his first reign after someone mentioned Liston`s short stay at the top.

No, Tyson isn't in Ali's league, and not really all that close to it. He is in the league of Liston, but above Dempsey

62% for the first option... I was beginning to think that the days of overrating Tyson was over and the he was perhaps on his way to be slightly underrated instead, but not according to these numbers.

Surely, a hypothetical h2h, with some serious excuses on Tyson's part, is the only way to have him as great as ny HW ever. Because no one is denying that Louis's and Ali's resumes **** all over Tyson's, right?

The question was "Does Mike Tyson belong in the same category as Muhammad Ali, Sonny Liston, and Jack Dempsey?" It's an odd question. Because Ali, Liston, Dempsey aren't the same level. But, all 3 are ATG heavyweights. So in that sense, Tyson does belong in the same category as Ali, Liston, Dempsey. Because he's also an ATG heavyweight. That's how I interpreted it.

62% choose "Tyson proved he was as great as any heavyweight ever". I think that clearly says you think he's up there with the absolutely greatest, i e Louis and Ali, but maybe it was a bit confusing to some, as you say.

I am not entirely clear upon the question.

In terms of talent, he could have gone as far as he wanted.

He might have built a resume to rival Louis and Ali with the right mindset.

That is how good he was.

In terms of real world resume, he is more in the Dempsey/Liston bracket, indeed perhaps they make a nice trio!

For all that he was a disappointment, his paper resume is pretty darn impressive!

Scoring wise he did much better. They were neck and neck! 58-56 Ali, 58-56 Liston, and 58-58 I believe the last one was.

It was not one sided at all. Scores were 58-56 Liston, 58-56 Ali, and 58-58. Foreman lost every single round against Ali except 2. So no he didn't do better and it's not particularly close.

Certainly not in the Ali/Louis category and not even in the just about equal Larry Holmes and George Foreman category. He does enough to hang around with Liston and Dempsey yeah.

Definitely belongs up with the best in terms of h2h if not career achievements. Everyone at their best I would only rank Ali and Holmes ahead of him in h2h matchups.
