Tyson by KO of course. I just edited the post as it wasn't really to do with Tyson in or out of the top 10. I like to base my list on resume and best wins rather than what they could have done to a heavyweight from a different era

Couldn't hack it against truly elite opposition.

No, he doesn't belong in the top 10 as he doesn't have the mindset of true great (crumbled mentally when things got tough).

Most definitely. Oh absolutely. A lock. I've got him at #7.

He would probably fall into the 7-10th spot..

    Personally I'd also include longivity.

Skillset - between 7 or 10. Very skilled but never had a plan B if
pressured, unlike an Ali for example

Resume -about the same as skillset, pretty good resume, but not great

    H2H - Top 5 All time

Achievement - 6-9 youngest champ, decent number of defenses

Longivity - outside of the top 10. After his loss to Douglas he was never
the same and his run on top was much shorter than expected

I'd say this puts him into the lower part of the top 10, say 8-10 range.

Another way to view Tyson's longevity is that he beat top 10 contenders 15 years apart.

Not too sure about resume being top 10. He has a few solid wins but his best wins are against a horribly out of prime Holmes out of a 2 year lay off and Spinks who had lost before the bell had even rang. However your spot on on the other points

If your suggesting that's good, comparing it too other ATG heavyweights that's not really that great. Especially against the likes of Ali, Lewis, Foreman, Holmes etc.

    Norton?:huh

I don't have Norton in my top 20 let alone my top 10.

Vitaly doesn't belong in the top 15 let alone the top 10.

I think Foreman is way too high, his first career doesn't warrant a top 10 ranking but his second career seals it for him. He has some solid wins but lacks depth in his resume.

Well top 10 lists are meant to be subjective so I'm sure you have your reasoning. But assuming you rate Norton at 10 and not Liston what is your rationale for rating him above:

    Tyson
    Dempsey
    Liston
    Jeffries
    Walcott
    Charles
    Wills
    Langford
    Wlad
    Patterson
    Bowe

I did a thread a while back on the Classic Forum regarding Norton:
