Purely based on his achievements in the ring I would say he is guaranteed entry into the Hall of Fame.

Youngest heavyweight champion ever, 2 time champion, dominant during his reign, one of the most watched and high profile champions of all time. 8 years after retiring and he's still one of the most well recognised boxers on the planet.

Yes his life outside of the ring included some heinous behaviour and even in the ring he was controversial. But if these factors had any relevance in his induction then Monzon would have never got in.

Mike Tyson name alone is hall of fame status. Mention his name anywhere on the planet, and folks will know who your referring to. Out of all the heavy weight that has ever lived in this sport, Tyson stands in a class by himself, and as the years pass far into the future. When ever the heavy weights of boxing is mention, please believe the name Iron Mike Tyson will spark up a conversation.

I don't know, I wasn't alive before the Tyson/Holyfield fights so I don't remember when Tyson was any good. I seen him beating some dudes like Zouskis Ilgauskas and he looked okay but Ilgauskas wasn't like a HOF guy or anything but then he looses 2 guys like Danny McBride? I don't know, I don't get it. He didn't have a reign that was long like a Klitschko, I know....

He's a fringe top 10 HW, but that certainly is more than enough for him to earn the right to the HOF. He was great.

This last could perhaps have been ...... phrased better.

Anyways, Mike Tyson is simply the most famous fighter of the last 30 years, he did some appalling things, had a relatively short period of dominance and fell far short of his potential.

However - if the Hall of Fame is what it calls itself, almost no-one belongs there more - Iron Mike is quite simply the most famous (or infamous) boxer of recent times.

EDIT - and I wish people would stop trying to frame poll questions to reflect personal opinions. Yes or No should be quite sufficient. Yes he belongs in the HOF, but based on resume and longevity he probably wasn't as exceptional as is remembered by those who saw his fights.

He raped her????? C'mon man get real
He was talking to her all day at the pageant telling her what he wanted to do to her. She was all for it. She went out to meet him at 2.30 am in a baby doll nightie with just a coat over it to go sightseeing???????? C'mon man he got what he wanted but he didn't vote for her and she didn't win so she screamed ****. Wasn't the first time she'd done same trick on a guy before but dropped the charges

Tyson was BOXING in his era. Youngest HW champion. Made Boxing PPV what it is today. He's done as much for boxing as anyone (one could argue he and Don King almost killed it as well). Definitely HOFer.
