you can't compare ali's and tyson's popularity to oscar's and floyd's. outside of the usa only die hard boxing fans know oscar and floyd. normal sport fans have never heard their names.

Are you kidding? Of course he deserved it.

For him not to have gotten in on his first eligible ballot, with Stallone and Gatti in there, would have rendered the Hall a complete sham. Not only did he bring just as much visibility and mainstream attention to boxing as either of them (more, actually) he was a top 15 ATG champion in his division and for some head to head in history rates even higher.

only saying those were the face of boxing at that time, never compared popularity between these fighters.

and yes ali and tyson are way ahead of oscar and floyd in popularity contest, but it's little bit harsh to say only hardcore boxing fan's know floyd mayweather. Floyd is pretty well known around the world nowadays

This poll needed to be public. This has been a waste of a thread.

We need to know who the five anonymous ******s are.

He burned out quick, his personal life was questionable to the point of making it easy to hate him as a man, and his career after burning out entirely detracted from his accomplishments when he was on the ball, but still. I can't deny his greatness as a heavyweight boxer.
