Sugar Ray Leonard is the only one who can truly answer this tbh.

How about Floyd "sugar" Mayweather Jr??? Does it fit.

Of course evry Floydettes call him "Honey", similar sweet terms as well.

I think Shane is an all time great, he would have been on top in almost any era he fought in or at least a serious threat

He elects to slug more than the Rays (the two famous ones anyway, let's not forget there's also Sugar Ray Seales :good).

Stylistically he may not fit in with them perfectly, but if being an ATG is the criterion determining whether he deserves the prefix, then yes he deserves it. Besides, Robinson and Leonard were boxer-punchers themselves at times and were no strangers to mixing it up.

Imagine if Floyd had been caught for Steroids.
He'd never live it down, but because Shane is considered a "nice guy" everyone just seems to sweep it under the carpet.
Did the guy even ever get suspended?

I've never been sold on that nickname for Mosley.

It belongs to once-in a generation type fighters. No disrespect but Mosley is not the standout fighter of his generation. Sure he is great. But he aint the absolute best. And he doesn't have a sweet-as-sugar style.
