Definitely, he deserves the title more than any other fighter around at the moment. And it sounds cool.

Shane deserves it. Even Sugar Ray Leonard says he does- that is a good endorsement.

Ive always liked Mosley but, NO, he doesn't deserve the Sugar name. Maybe a Sugar Lite. IF he had stayed as a WW and avenged his loss to Forrest, then yea he'd be a true sugar but he took back to back rematches against Forrest and Winky and got his ass handed to him.. Ray Robinson and Leonard never went out in that fashion. They redeemed themselves which shane has failed to do. Plus the steroid scandal and allll.... He's just sugar lite.

shane may brawl a little more than the two previous sugars, but lets be serious, he still has sublime boxing skills when he chooses to use them, the ability to knock you out with both hands, footwork, ring smarts, and a smile that lights up the room. if he isn't of the sugar lineage, who is? money may? no way.

sugar ray leonard was no longer sugar when he was getting stopped by terry norris, and my favorite fighter ever and the best fighter ever, the great sugar ray robinson, was no longer sugar when he was fighting in bull rings in mexico for pennies. all im saying is, maybe the name sugar isnt such an unattainable goal as you guys are making it out to seem. sugar shane is sugar shane

When I think of the first Two Sugars, I see fighters who are versatile and multidimensional thinkers who can fight in more than one way with a plan A B and C... They were the epitome of a boxer puncher but shane is not that. He basically comes into the fight thinking that he'd knock his foe out when he fails to do so, he looks lost in there and has no other plans..

And in answer to the question, yeah. Walker Smith Jr he might not be, or Leonard for that matter, but he's carried the nickname well. Great fighter with a very, very good legacy. And he's exciting.
