Mosley is one of the toughest guys in boxing. There isn't a hope in hell that Margarito will dispose of him quickly. This will probably be a 12 round slug fest and a candidate for fight of the year.
He does have a background of displaying his toughness to say the least. But you have to look at every fight on its own, right. I mean Tszyu was regarded the same way before the Hatton fight. But at the same time I have to contradict myself and say that I am completely influenced by both fighters last showing's in thier respective fights.
yep, look at Mosley's resume, and look at where he's from and grew up fighting in the Amatuers, Mosley built his career off of fighting guys like Margarito obviously Mosley not the same fighter he was in his prime, he's some speed and he's past his best weight class, the flash is gone but the substance is still there people are getting **** confused because he lost to Cotto, and Cotto got beat down by Margarito Mosley has never been good with opponents with great jabs, the 2nd Oscar fight, Winky, Forrest.....it's just his criptonite, i doubt even Mosley will doubt that and as far as his fight with Mayorga, he was fighting at 154 against an akward, strong, tough Mayorga who came in at 170.....that's 170......i repeat 170, and he was still able to close the show and KO him Margarito's not as strong physically nor does he hit as hard as Mayorga does, and he's more predictable, but to Margarito's to credit, he is fresher and more active, but just because you throw more punches doesn't mean you can beat anyone who they put in front of you, if that was the case Paul Williams, Juan Diaz, Pacman, and a slew of other fighters would beat unbeatable facts are Mosley can hit, he's tough, and throws straight Margarito doesn't stop punching, can hit, and is as tough as they come but he doesn't have anything that's been known to give Mosley trouble, Cotto won because of his jab and technical precision, he didn't beat Mosley up.....he was just too versatile, and it's the same with Winky and Forrest i dont' think Mosley's gonna blow him out the water, and in fact time may of caughten too far up with him to be fighting someone like Margarito, but if Mosley does manage to lose, it will be close but i think Mosley has what it takes to beat Margarito He throws straight, he throws hard, and he's as tough they come, not to mention he has the experience to take him places that Cotto didn't when he fought Margarito, he knows how pedal away effectively, and he knows how to properly hold when need be Margo's a beast, but he's no monster....he's a very flawed fighter, with more then enough shortcomings for a seasoned great like Mosley to exploit, win or lose
Tszyu wasn't in the habit of using toughness as a substitute for boxing skills, Mosley was. That is not to say that Mosley doesn't have good skills because he does, but for some strange reason he doesn't use them. I will agree though that old boxers seem to suddenly get old. Happened to Tszyu and there is a slim chance it might happen to Mosley. I'm betting the fight goes the distance.
Nice post monstar, you detailed your views well.. Do you think Mosely's shots are more powerful then Cotto? Margarito walked through Cotto's shots though they did make him halt sometimes. I don't think Mosely's shots are as powerful. So with Margo walking through his punches, Mosely will obviously try and finish what Cotto started with the hit and move, though no doubt we'll see the addition of the clinch. Also, Again this is trying to avoid an A-B-C formula, but in Mosely's last fight, Mayorga's shots were getting through A LOT. And he was throwing basic combinations, like 1-1-2. Margarito is a much more rounded boxer and will throw punches from many angles. Even with Mosely on Rollerblades, I don't see him avoiding having to take severe punishment because he's just not as quick as he was and he doesn't use his skills (as ralphC pointed out) especially on defense as effectively as he should. These are some reasons I think Mosely won't last all 12. *edit* I typed Mosley's name wrong I realize that
well honestly I doubt mosley hits harder then cotto at best he hits as hard cotto does.....and just like you said cotto couldn't hurt mArgarito with his best shots, so I know for a fact that mosley can't either, but the thing is, is that u don't have to hurt your opponent in order to win you just have to win more rounds And as I said b4 mosley throws straight and hard while margarito loops his punches,... So like we saw in the 1st half of cotto-margarito it'll be easy for mosley to land clean then escaape, basically the first half of the fight isn't in much question right? Since we all know margaritos easy to counter and outbox as you see in alot of his fights against boxers or boxer-punchers early on The real quuestion is can he do what cotto and few others couldn't do which is continue to stick to the gameplan in the 2nd half without folding too margaritos onslaught of vicous pressure? And ithink he can for 3 reasons 1. His chin - been proven to be as solid as they come 2. His experience - he's been on jams before and knows what it takes to stay I n a fight even he's getting battered which will help if it gets to point when margo's down on cards and needs to stop mosley to win And 3. He's an old warrior who knows this may well be his last chance at glory and for any1 who saw Juan Diaz-Nate Campbell you know this can make all the difference in a fighter and his fight So will that be enough to get him through a war like this? No1 knows for sure yet but I think it is, but we'll see soon n I can't wait and I'll make sure to give the winner all the props he deserves
Yeah, that fight was Margarito against a terribly overmatched opponent, Kyvelos made Cotto look like an ATG in his fight with Margarito.
Floyd at 130 called Shane out twice when he was p4p , and Shane rejected twice. Floyd 's dad said so, i have the video.
i think margarito will have seriously underestimated shane and i think the fight will be closer than most think, remember cotto did not wipe the floor with mosley, and cotto had shown signs of vulnerabilty leading up to marg, so imo shane does have a chance, especially if the rumours of margarito struggling to make 147 are true
Margarito is a machine disguised as a man. The only time he loses is when he is sabotaged. P Williams beat him when he was low on fuel and Danial Santos weighed 20 lbs more than him and quit just in time to get a TD...also because Margarito was denied access to local Puerto Rican gas stations (conspiracy everywhere). Mosley is gonna get all the residual steroid juice pounded the fek right out of him.
