Does muscles have anything to do with how hard you punch?

    muscles is weight, you need weight for impact, so yes muscles do matter. combination of athletism, weight, bone structure and overall how you move, if you put all your body in it.

    It has to do with your form and leverage. Just look at guys with thin reed arms like Morales, Oscar, and Trinidad. You know, like sitting on your punches, punching through your opponent when going for the ko. But shot placement and setting up a powershot behind a jab especially a powershot your opponent doesn't see coming is more important than having a more powerful punch. Just look at Butterbean. He can crack, but how far has that alone taken him? Muscle is only, but a small factor.

    I think so but not a lot, speed also contributes to the power (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) and too much muscle could slow you down.

    Muscle matters but not paticularly muscle mass. Ask Bruce Lee or any boxer from welter down. Speed + stregth + conditioning.
