Great start, when I first seen your workout schedule for him, I was like it's really good, but there is no way in hell he's going to be able to do 10, 2 minute rounds, at 5'8 300 pounds, I know guys in good shape that couldnt do that.:yep I like your new plan for him though, and I agree, working your way up is the only way to grow and achieve your goals properly. :good
if your doing that routine now your well on your way just don't try to do too much and get discouraged and don't listen to the negative comments your doing what you need to:good
diets key to losing weight excercise just helps it along the way so dont worry about how intense your workout is yet just do what you can n build up on it
Someone knows what's going on :good Also, don't be phased about breaking ranks and eating a hamburger or a bowl of ice cream. I suggest to anyone training to have a "reward day" where anything goes....no more than once a week of course. As for fitness, get the cardio right first. Walking around a hilly park for 40 minutes a day will do wonders at first. Then build on from there. *Also suggest you get a doctors clearance first (blood pressure etc..)
I Agree With Prettymuch Everything Make Sure U Eat Often Enough If U Go To Long Yer Body Will Store It As Fat ,try Special K It Helped Me Drop 30 Pounds To Get Back To Middleweight.never Skip Breakfast, and If U Can Do Some Morning Cardio It Will Keep Yer Metabilisim Faster Allday
Swim. Your joints will thank you. You can burn the same number of calories per hour as joggin (700) without the joint strain. Heck, even if you're obese, you can eventually work up to 2 swimming workouts a day without worrying about putting tons of wear & tear on your body. Couple that with the walking before bed, weights in the evening, plus a healthy diet, and just watch the weight melt right off of you. I just started back at an actual swim team this morning and am kicking myself for waiting so long. I've had this nice, warm, "I already burned a lot of calories today" feeling all day. I'm finally confident that I'm gonna see south of 200, probably even by the end of the year.
I'm surprised that this thread is still getting posts since I've been too busy to post. I guess I'll post an update for the hell of it (not that I think anyone should care too much) Weight on 5/17: 306 Weight on 6/25: 294 Only 12 pounds is really underwhelming considering that I hit the local boxing gym 3x a week and that I do stuff at home everyday. I don't feel like posting my workout routine right now because its late, but I've changed my diet big time. The only stuff I eat for a snack are nuts or green veggies (like celery). I don't always eat breakfast due to time issues on workdays. I don't eat lunch most the time because I don't want to have food breath at work since I have to talk to a lot of people and my dinners usually consist of a small portion of meat with either white rice (brown rice is too expensive with the inflation in rice) or frozen veggies. I also take a multi-vitamin as well as Cinnamon (helps my sugar metabolism) and Chromium Picolinate (helps general metabolism). I only drink water and sweet tea. I unfortunately did waste my time on walking. Walking is a BS exercise because it isn't nearly high enough intensity. Hell, I've been walking for the past 25 years, so walking won't improve my cardiovascular health that much anytime soon. I'll probably start swimming because I know that jogging would have my knees :| due to the level of impact combined with my weight.
I'm in kind of the same boat: Working intensely 3+ times a week, not eating that much or that often, but not losing much weight (my weight's moved even less than your's actually - 5 lbs in 3 months). Eat frequently; but eat about the amount you'd consider a snack: a little cup of yogurt, a 120calorie oatmeal packet, or a small salad. That way your body won't store that one small meal you do eat. Gotta keep that furnace burning & not let it just shut down. The swimming will help. Running may be the best exercise for weight loss, but it's not a good recommendation if you're overweight coz your joints just won't handle it. Hoping the swimming I started recently will help me strip the weight off at a faster pace. PS- I didn't know Chromium Picolinate was still considered healthy? I thought some study came out in 2004 that showed it to actually be very harmful... I used to like taking it, felt it gave me more energy.
