I understand that, but over the years I've ventured into 4 different boxing gyms and 3 of them opened at 4 p.m. and one didn't open till 6 p.m. All I was trying to point out is if the opportunity exists for him to get to the gym at 6 p.m., going straight from class, he could get the workout done and get home at a reasonable enough time to eat, clean up and grab a decent night's sleep. According to the schedule he wrote, he's getting home at 6 p.m., eating a meal, getting a couple hours sleep and then heading to the gym. I'm not a big fan of lying down right after eating a meal because that food just sits on me. I can't imagine getting up from a small nap and then heading to a gym for a vigorous workout. It obviously isn't working all that well for him since he is seeking some sort of advice.
I'm a shift worker so I have no choice, i need to get in a nap to regenerate energy somehow. Though I've found it is effective for performance whether I require it or not. I know a fulltime professional who lives by the naps aswell. He'll go for a long run, come back for nutrition then take a nap, go about his errands then go for a train in the evening. schedule can change a lot but a quick nap can regenerate you enough for a quality session
Focus-wise: Kimi Raikkonen (F1) pretty much always has a nap until 30 minutes before he needs to be on the grid - and I don't think that piloting a rocket at 300kph for 2 hours requires any less focus than boxing. In terms of physical slowness, however, I think you may be right. I know that I'm sluggish as hell in the morning. I get out of bed at 7am for work, and usually have full function around 1pm.
30 minutes is very different to 3+ hours of sleep! 30 minutes is a refreshing nap, 3 hours is exactly like having a short night's sleep and waking up expecting to be fresh as a daisy in 10 minutes!
9:30 pm trainings are only on mondays. my college begins in 8:15 am, and it ends about 6 pm with few rests for eating and coffee. when i come home i`m exhausted, i eat and go to sleep. 1 hour of sleep would be fine for me, but i can`t get from bed cause its so fine, so i sleep till 8:45 when its last time to get up for training what i realised from your posts that this is normal thing, and that my "nap" is too long, so i will have to sleep more at night before that day or force my self to max 1h nap if i want to be fresh. thanks for advices!
I saw a video or documentary one time where they said Marciano was always tired so he'd be napping or sleeping any time he could, even in changing room. I'm sure it all depends on each individual, but it worked for Rock, it can't hurt lol
i always try to have a 30min nap before training as long as you dont fall into a sleep ,you will still be ok to train
